Hello,

I’ve seen more and more people interested in using the Purple Air sensor as a tool to understand particulate matter pollution in their communities. Public Lab has wiki’s where information is gathered about a particular subject. The wiki for the Purple Air is located here. Check it out and contribute your experiences, challenges and questions to the page - it’s editable. Or, reply to this email to share your experiences.

I’m interested in hearing:

  • How have you used or plan to use your purple air?

  • What is easy or challenging about using it?

  • Have you used any other particulate matter sensors?

  • Have you used data from your purple air to support advocacy efforts?

  • Or anything else you want to share!

Best,
Ufuoma

Hi,

I have been using one of these for a few years now.
Overall very good reading reliability.
The construction is solid.

The map online is a bit buggy.
Recently more so.
Using the map on an iPhone is sometimes a test of patience - via Safari.

I also have used Dylos - this is good for inside of a home or building only.
I have a Speck inside as well.

One note is I live in then US NorthEast so very humid.
I am not sure if anyone has done the math on figuring out % humidity and what % readout to subtract to get a more accurate measure on humid days.

For example this is US lower 48 and my reading right now
The fires burning out west can be seen in red and my home is at 22 - green. Very low humidity and no wood smoke in area.
My reading can sometimes go up to yellow reading in high humidity and no other pollution.

Mark
