Why do I need mercurial?

I am trying to download plotinum on a different computer and I get

[btracey@zion mygo]$ go get code.google.com/p/plotinum/plot
go: missing Mercurial command. See http://golang.org/s/gogetcmd
package code.google.com/p/plotinum/plot: exec: "hg": executable file not found in $PATH

Is this a code.google.com thing?

Nevermind. I didn't fully understand how go get works.
