Hi Friends,

Plotinum (code.google.com/p/plotinum) is a library for drawing plots
and charts in Go. I started Plotinum back in 2012, and it's been
relatively inactive for a couple of years now. With the closing of
code.google.com [1] it's time to officially hand over maintenance of
Plotinum to a new team.

This is an exciting time for the library, now called gonum/plot. The
gonum community (which includes me) has been preparing to take over
Plotinum development for nearly two years now. The Plotinum issue
tracker is closed and the issues and wiki have been moved to
github.com/gonum/plot. The folks at gonum are already making
enhancements and bug fixes, and have plans to greatly improve the
package.

The gonum/plot API is in flux. This is a good thing; it means that
we'll have a much nicer package. It also means that, until stabilized,
downstream packages need to be vigilant to keep up with the changes.
For those who want an unchanging API, code.google.com/p/plotinum will
remain available until code.google.com closes in 2016.

Feel free to join gonu...@googlegroups.com to discuss gonum/plot
development.

Best,
Ethan

This is great news! I used Plotinum in its infancy for all of the plots in my graduate work and still use it from time to time today. Have you thought to use gopkg.in to maintain the old/stable API?

Thanks, Chris. Glad you found the package useful.

I don't really know gopkg.in, but perhaps I'll take a look this weekend.
