Plotinum redesign for gonum

Hello Plotinum Users,

There is currently a discussion about redesigning Plotinum and moving it over to the github.com/gonum community.  This is a rare chance to cleanup Plotinum and to make reverse-incompatible improvements.  We would appreciate any feedback or help that you could provide.  You can see and participate in the discussion on the gonum-dev google group (for now, see this thread: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/gonum-dev/--DChAF4iek/discussion).  The design documentation is available at https://github.com/gonum/plot/wiki/Design.
