Hi everyone

The next meeting should be taking place on Wednesday 1 May, but as this is a public holiday I propose it takes place the following week on Wednesday 8 May.

It was agreed that the venue would move around each month - May's meeting is scheduled to be in Stellenbosch. Please can I have venue suggestions? Somewhere less formal - a pub type venue is preferred.

Thanks
Bridget

How about my house? All the rest of my family is going off to watch Justin Bieber that evening. We can pitch in for Ginos pizza or something, and I'll provide some beers, since I took home all the extra beers from the Wine and Beer sprint. I might have a small presentation on a Plone product we built recently, as well.

Half of you know where I live, and I can provide directions for the rest :)

That's a great offer - thanks Johan. I need to update the MeetUp page - are you happy for your home address to go on there?

I'll sacrifice the Justin Bieber concert and join you guys :)

I'd like to take this opportunity to also suggest that Bridget no longer
advertise our meetings in other user groups (like CTPUG).

My reasons for this are twofold.

Firstly, we now have Meetup which already sends out reminders to people,
and we know that people who are actually interested in these meetings
receive them (because they made the effort to join the meetup group).

Secondly, the effort involved appears to me to have diminishing returns.
We don't see people from CTPUG or other communities joining our meetings
because of these emails and they might actually start to annoy them.

Any thoughts on this?

That said, thanks Bridget for your tireless work in organising our
meetings thus far!

JC

I have just updated the MeetUp page for 8 May, taking place at Johan's house in Stellenbosch - I have requested that those attending that don't know where Johan's house is, message him directly via the members' list. The link is: http://www.meetup.com/Plone-Pyramid-Western-Cape/events/115731502/

If you would prefer not to advertise in the CTPUG I shall refrain from doing so.

Thanks!

Thanks Bridget and Johan. I suggest we continue to use CTPUG and clug-announce, but maybe only the final confirmed notice and no reminders?

Thanks Bridget, for setting up the meetup.

As mentioned in a different thread, we're going to be having a
mini-sprint at the Bandwidth Barn that same week.

I was just discussing this with Johan and we agree that it makes sense
to have the mini-sprint on the same day as the meeting.

Unfortunately the venues planned are in Stellenbosch and Cape Town,
necessitating some unnecessary driving.

I therefore suggest that we move the monthly meetup to the Cape Town
(either at the the Barn or nearby). Johan has already confirmed that he
is fine with this.

Any other opinions?

Thanks
JC

Maybe we could sprint with all the happy Siyavula ninjas at the IOS?
Maybe we can ask Mark if thats feasable?

Regarding sprinting at the OIS, unfortunately this wont be possible as our team has grown hugely in the last few months so space is tight, and our internet is problematic from time to time. Apologies for this.

I agree that it makes sense to move the meetup to Cape Town. If you will be at the Barn for the sprint, are there any opinions on it taking place at the Barn that evening (if this is possible?) or are there suggestions for somewhere else? I'd like to update the meetup page.

Also, there are differing opinions about advertising on the CTPUG - I have not done so this month yet.

Thanks Mark + Bridget.
Thank you for considering it and thanks for getting back to us.

Yes, I just spoke with JC and he said that having it at the Bandwidth Barn is no problem apparently. Both the sprint and Meetup.
We will most likely get going with sprinting around 9.30am (so that we can skip the am traffic driving in).

Also, there are differing opinions about advertising on the CTPUG - I have not done so this month yet.

I personally think this is not necessary.

Thanks Witek for replying to each of my points. I have updated the Meetup page - if any of the admin would like to edit it further regarding the sprint / monthly meeting please do, as I am going on leave tomorrow until Tuesday, so I wont be able to make any further changes. Thanks!
