Hi folks

I have the pleasure to announce that Eric Steele, the Plone 4 and 5
release manager will be coming down to join our sprint next month!

I'd like to use this moment to also highlight some organisational issues
around the social activities that need to be sorted out. I'd appreciate
your help and suggestions!

Firstly, does anyone have any suggestions for nice accommodation for
Eric and his wife?

As you probably know, the sprint will be from Thursday the 24th to
Sunday the 27th of January.

I think it makes sense for us to have an official social gathering of
all the Sprinters (and their significant others) on Saturday night.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a venue?

Since the sprint is in Cape Town and Eric and his wife would likely stay
in the city, I think it might make sense to have this event there as
well.

If the venue is in Cape Town, we could perhaps arrange for taxis to take
people back. Sounds feasible? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
JC

I would recommend guest houses in Tamboerskloof/Gardens area.

When my friend visited me from the US recently, she stayed at:
http://www.ambertreelodge.co.za/
and
http://www.backpackers.co.za/

both around R500/night for ensuite room/double

Backpack is much more tourist vibe and even has its own tourist agency inside that can be used to organise all sorts of daytrips and things.
Ambertree lodge is more quiet, only has a few rooms.

I have no idea about other hotels and high price ranges etc.

I will think a bit.

Sounds quite feasable, then we can all pretend that we are "taking a taxi" back to stellenbosch/somerset-west after the event :)

I stayed at Dolphin Lodge in Mouille Point for a week ... stunning
location, homely, affordable ... approx R1000/double p/night ...

Hi

My recommendation for accommodation is in the Waterfront. Protea Hotels
are around R1000 per double room per night. Decent value and centrally
located. See:

Awesome, thanks Rudi, Gustav and Witek!

I added your suggestions to the Coactivate page and now the
accommodation section looks much better!
