Hi,
Finally, I'm finding the time to prepare for my trip.
To conclude so far:
- release some projects as Plone addons (Johan)
- always keen for a sprint, but unsure whether he has the time [or
whether we come up with topics interesting enough] (Mike)
- release collective.xmpp.chat (JC)
- tests for collective.loremipsum (JC)
I never found the time to take a close look at collective.xmpp.chat and
collective.loremipsum, so this might be a good opportunity to change
that.
Projects currently on my mind / I have been working on a lot lately are:
Patterns[1], a Javascript library of user interaction patterns to create
rich web-based user-interfaces, and a framework/architecure for
organizing your own javascript applications.
TPV[2,3,4], the Total Perspective Vortex, also not yet known as "One API
to rule them all", and "It's dictionaries all the way down!", an
experiment to see how it feels and what happens if you model an
application using only python's dictionary API.
Metachao[5], a library providing functional meta programming in python,
aiming at code reusage by fulfilling the function of adapters and
mixins by one piece of code (an Aspect). It is used heavily in TPV.
PyLDAP[6], a library enhancing python-ldap with what I've had to deal
with in every project using python-ldap so far.
And then I'm always seeking to improve the tools I'm working with, most
notably:
Emacs, an operating system I switched to in a funny mood after using
Vi(m) for a very long time. The transition was too painful to be able
to doubt it. Anyway, I'm aiming at having a configuration suitable for
me and the people I'm working with[7].
NixOS/Nix[8], what I consider a rather successful experiment to see how
it feels and what happens if you treat software deployment and
configuration like memory management in a functional programming
language. I'm using it as operating system and to create reproducible
python (development) environments across operating systems.
For each of these, I can offer a guided tour, am searching people to
join in, and am looking for feedback.
Last but not least, I'm interested in meeting new (and old) people and
learn and discuss about their projects.
As JC wrote, I will be at your plone meeting on the 8th and am free to
sprint until the 11th.
hope to meet you soon!
