Venky/Mike,

just out of curiosity, is plivo.com being run out of the Amazon cloud (or a public cloud for that matter) or being tested on it?

Is it possible for someone to run a plivo.com type of service over a public cloud such as Amazon/Rackspace and if so, what are some of the parameters, tuning and tweaking that helps considering by definition, these cloud providers work on over-subscription of physical resources by implementing multi-tenancy models.

This is a bit of an academic / curiosity question (for now)

yes, sure...wanted to investigate the way Plivo cloud is being architected. The design/configuration decisions being made, along with the choice of cloud/IaaS provider and what are some of the parameters, tuning and tweaking that might be needed for it to work better in clouds like EC2, Rackspace etc., considering by definition, these public cloud providers rely on over-subscription of physical resources by implementing multi-tenancy models.
