to PlioMIP
Recently members of the advisory panel noted that the recommended
PlioMIP files included a problem (mismatch) in the topography, ice
sheet and vegetation distribution files.
The simplest solution was to use the new (GISS) topography along with
the BAS ice sheets and matching BAS vegetation. The appropriate
changes have now been made to the web site (PRISM data and PlioMIP
data areas), experimental design, and notes files.
To be crystal clear, the newly recommended "land files" are:
BAS_GISS_P3_land_fraction_v1.1 BAS_GISS_P3_topo_v1.1
BAS_GISS_P3_ice_sheet_v1.1
and
BAS_P3_biome_veg_v1.0 or BAS_P3_mbiome_veg_v1.0
The US Geological Survey are in the process of creating the necessary
files for this configuration of boundary conditions for groups that
cannot change the land mask and need to work with modern continents.
They hope to have the new files ready this week.
Thanks,
PlioMIP Advisory Panel.
