Hi all :)

I would like to use Plink 1.9 to convert 23andMe data to Plink format using the --23file command. I have used Plink at work and university before, but it was always already installed on the Linux system I was using, and now I would like to install it on my personal Windows machine.

I tried using the Windows 64-bit links available here:
(both the 6 June and 8 Nov versions)
and when I try running plink --23file [filename] it says "plink: unknown option "--23file""
and when I run plink -V it says "plink: Release 0.73"
This happened when I'd downloaded the 6 June version, and the same errors happened after I'd downloaded the 8 Nov version.

Is "release" the same as "version", and if so, why isn't it 1.9?
How can I get the version (1.9?) that includes the --23file command?

Thanks!

Anna

This is because you have another program named "plink" (see the middle of https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/releases/0.73.html ) installed on that machine, and your system PATH prioritizes that program.

Either change your system PATH (or move the plink 1.9 binary) to prioritize plink 1.9, or specify the directory whenever you run plink 1.9.
