Beginning plink

Hello everyone,
I just downloaded plink Version 0.67 and installed it, using

"sudo apt-get install plink" 


Then I downloaded the example data, as recommended in the tutorial and unzipped it into a folder called "hapmap1".
In this folder are now the files "hapmap1.map" "hapmap1.ped" "pop.phe" and "qt.phe"

Next step, recommended in tutorial:

Just typing plink and specifying a file with no further options is a good way to check that the file is intact, and to get some basic summary statistics about the file.

plink --file hapmap1

every time, I make this command in the terminal, either prefixed with "sudo", or not,
the following reaction is told in terminal:
 unknown option "--file"
Please, can anyone  help me, according to this problem?

Follow-Up,
I know, this group is for plink 2, and I try to work with 1.07.
Is that a Problem?

Most commands behave identically between v1.07 and v1.9; the main difference between the two is speed.  So if something isn't working at all, this is the right place to ask.

In your case, it looks like there is another program called "plink" installed on your system.  What happens if you type "plink --version"?

thank you very much for your answer (!)
This is exactely, what happened. There is another plink, part of "putty", and, what I did over the last days was
like trying to ride a horse believing it's a motorbike....
But, finally, got it.
Could not imagen, that there really are two programs, named the same.
At least, thats a great success for me (found it out, before reading your post), and therefore, I stop working for today...  :-)

Nevertheless: Thanks for your answer, again, that gives me hope, because my next (stupid) problem will appear soon, for sure.
