Hi. I would like some help regarding port forwarding in OpenWRT 19.07.6.
Here is my setup: I am in Mexico, connected to the inernet via Telmex through a DSL modem/router. I have connected a second OpenWRT router to the Telmex modem/router using the WAN port on the OpenWRT router. The Telmex router is 192.168.1.254. The LAN address of the OpenWRT router is 192.168.1.64. The LAN behind the OpenWRT router is 192.168.2.2-225. I use an OpenVPN supplied by ExpressVPN to connect to the internet so that it appears that I am in the United States. The OpenVPN tunnel is functioning correctly, that is my isp location is in the US.
So far, so good. My problem is that I want to connect to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video through the Roku on the OpenWRT LAN. Neither Netflix nor Prime Video loads any video. When I try to connect on a laptop using the VPN, it is clear that these two services can detect the use of a VPN.
The OpenVPN tunnel uses port 1195. I have seen discussions about using port forwarding to send traffic to port 443 in the hope that this would evade VPN detection.
I use the Luci interface to manage OpenWRT. No SSH or Linux. Can someone give me simplified instructions to accomplish the port forwarding via the Luci interface? BTW, I tried changing the port number in the OVPN config file from port 1195 to port 443 without success (I loose internet connectivity).

It does not matter how you connect to the VPN provider, or even if your computer is physically on their premises; what they are detecting is a connection from an IP address that belongs to a VPN provider.

I have a similar situation with expressvpn, just one router (openwrt) but I assume it would work the same for you, I use luci-app-vpnbypass and just set the Roku ip in the Local IP Addresses to Bypass field, I also set static lease in Luci > Network > DHCP and DNS > Static Leases for the Roku and then tag dns in /etc/config/dhcp like this (so a small amount of ssh would be required), works well and no problems with Amazon or Netflix.

edit - if the problem is that you need to have a US location to get the content you want then instead of bypassing the vpn, try the Los Angeles 3 server from express vpn (if its available for you), I've found that one usually works with Amazon and /Netflix while connected.

You said make sure to disable peer DNS - but where do we disable that ? I mean in luci openwrt where ?
Also I am using proton vpn wireguard dns server and if I change and put 8.8.8.8 (google dns) than amazon prime will work ?

I have 500 mbps fiber setup at home installed a week ago. I have found that on android note 9 certain apps like netflix, twitter, prime video, amazon shopping (But Youtube works) dont work. But they work fine on mobile internet. Running these websites on my laptop they work fine over wifi. I also found that my sony android smart tv is facing the same problem with the same apps not working.

I tested these apps on an Iphone-they worked fine. They also worked fine on oneplus7.

I have rummaged forums and platforms trying to solve this problem but no help so far. My wifi setup is as follows:

GPON Router/Modem(given by my ISP)----TP Link Router Archer A9 (Setup as an accesspoint)--- My android device

Also on my phone by using a vpn I gain access to these apps and also while using them on a mobile browser like chrome they work fine with the wifi. But apps dont work on wifi :(

Pl help guys

Is the ISP GPON Router/Modem Wi-Fi capable? If it also has wireless function, try to enable the Wi-Fi on it, then connect the android note 9 to that network to check if you can use those apps. If not, is more like an issue on the android note 9 phone itself, you can try to uninsall those apps, clear the cache, and reinstall them, check again if you can use them.

We have the option of having express VPN on our television which allows us to watch BBC but we can only use it with Roku but not Amazon Firestick. There may be some programs not available on some of these sites in some countries (we have accounts in Canada and Uk for Prime so are a bit confused about this.)

We have amazon prime video here. It's 5.99 a month if you have a smart TV, it's already installed. No need for VPN or smart DNS just go to primevideo.com and sign up. you get a free trial too.the name is slightly different because it doesn't include the free shipping option. just strictly streaming I believe the content is the same in all countries as well. Netflix varies with the geographical location but you still get good content here

That's strange as I cannot get Amazon prime here without using a Vpn or a smartDNS.. AND my content is definitely different to both Spain and UK content. Had smart TV and android TV ..same on both.. maybe it's a branding thing

I've had prime for years and still the same a it was when I first got it .... it's not an issue for me as I am ditching it later this month anyway ...everything they and Netflix have I get from another supplier complete withe all live TV ppv etc etc etc at a fraction of the cost and much earlier too

Don't think it does but not 100% sure have a look at you account see what they offer ...metal definitely has various extras for free nordVPN plus is one of.them as is FT news Picstar & WeWork and some others

U.S.A location. Amazon prime is restricted content and shows a "this content is not available in your location" message. BBC Iplayer can be connected but they are on the ball and usually find VPN and block.

I use and have been using an IPTV service for years and it contains all the usual VoD from Amazon Apple Peacock Disney Netflix Hulu etc etc etc ..as well as all live tv sport sky virgin BT TNR etc and catch up for UK mainstream for a fraction of the cost...

Does anyone use Amazon Prime for delivery to Cyprus? Or only for streaming? Just wondering if it's worth keeping my Canadian or Spanish Prime if it's only streaming (I still have Netflix and Disney+).

Stick with a local tv service provider - firestick re sellers disappear overnight and IPTV services will be limited in future as Amazon switch to their own operating system which will block much of the tv package apps available- I use an android smart tv with a vpn for U.K. channels and legal apps - iPlayer etc

Having tried the TrioTech offering the video quality for live tv and catchup with limited UK mainstream TV channels I think the resolution is poor.. but ok if you can put up with that... the rest is based on kodi the live streams there are better but as usual with Kodi they are unreliable and requires regular updating and switching add-ons to get what you want .. even Kodi Devs disappear and have spats

Options covering downtime is the way to go for sure.....I used to use Kodi 15years ago stopped.using it in favour of free android TV apps for ease of use and the quality and reliability was better and some still are.......

As you say Amazon firesticks have been very good but they have plans to introduce their own Operating system and am sure their own security will lock their units up to keep themselves safe ..However there are some very clever people out there who am sure will find a way round it.

@Toon could you please let me know as well please as we have a vpn but our fire stick always falls over and a programme that is an hour long normally takes an hour and a half at least to watch because of the buffering.

I got my Z7+ yesterday and installed Netflix from the official Google Play. The app starts fine (it crashed the first time) and I can play movies, but I can't navigate anywhere else than the "home" screen, no way to scroll down, only the first suggestions are visible

installed from the google store with no problems. try also downloading from the main websites directly also. uninstall any previous versions first, do a quick clean, reboot and then try loading the new app

Netflix is a joke, worked fine yesterday and I could navigate with the controller properly. Tried again today and controller navigation no longer works! Re-booted the box although it now no longer signs in.......... Feel like a damn product tester so far with this box!!!

I'm sure once the issues with mytvonline are sorted, they will find away of implementing widevine lvl 1, in there boxes, which can be done by a firmware update. Until that is implemented there will no 4K Netflix prime or YouTube. My two biggest grips with the box are that and the audio codec not implement correctly to kodi standards on android. If they get these issue sorted they will have a nearly perfect box.

I agree fully. I switched from mag box to Forumler Z7 after hearing great things about it. It works great for the MyTv but sadly the android apps / software not so much.
Even my old sh1tty Chinese android box runs on Android TV.

I miss Netflix running properly

4k is on Nvidia Shield, Fire, Apple, Smart TVs.

Widevine and drm for big brands, formuler I doubt would get that licensing.

Chinese boxes with android TV OS will run netflix/prime with no air mouse and maybe get HD.

Formuler selling point is MyTV app, that's it in reality, that and few third party apps

Use official apps on boxes like the above or smart tv apps on tv, Prime and Netflix on my Samsung/Shield also.

I bought the device yesterday to possibly replace my mibox and what a disappointment ... mytvonline is very good but netflix ... no scroll (solved with -4.16-15172 -release.apk) but once on a video impossible to unroll right or left ...
Updates are planned or a passage to android tv?
thank you
