Competitive integrity is and will always be a core pillar for Apex Legends. As part of that, our default iron sights are designed to push players to loot for better optics. We also believe that skins shouldn't be a factor in the sights functionality as well. During Season 4, we released the Heat Sink reactive skin for the VK-47 Flatline rifle and we heard feedback from some players that the Aim Down Sights (ADS) felt superior to any other skin available.

We believe that any competitive edge in Apex Legends should be gained by honing your skills and not due to any perceived advantages from buying gun skins. As our good friend Kuben Blisk puts it: "You kill me, you're better. I kill you, I'm better." We hope players who own these skins will appreciate these improvements and support us as we work to keep Apex Legends fun and fair.

I don't think the sights in this game will change only because this is the sights that the flatline has in the titan fall universe which the game is based off of. My suggestion is not to use the gun if you don't like it.

For me, "most" of the ironsights are....the weakest...sights. just because the weapon body is so close to the center of the screen and conceals a lot of my view. But thats the nature of this thing. Every gun uses better with a attached holo or reddot . So.... iron sights are okay i think.

The ironsights suck but I don't think the ironsights are the worst problem it has. The recoil feels heavy, the hip spray is wide and it doesn't have room for a barrel stabilizer. Steadying yourself for headshots can be too time consuming when their's already so much health/shields to burn down. I would pretty much choose any heavy ammo weapon over it beside the prowler (or the longbow depending on the other weapon I'm holding). Even when compared to the hemlok my close-range success has been abysmal. I can't really tell where the developers intended this gun to be on the hierarchy and I didn't play the Titanfall games if they were meant to give me any sort of clue.

And I'm speaking as someone who has been with multiplayer shooters as far back as Team Fortress Classic and Unreal Tournament. My Steam account may very well be older than some of the people reading this, and my XBL account older still (though I abandoned the consoles many years ago). Please don't judge. It's just that with an epeen this girthy, there must be some truth to what I'm saying.

Still a solid pick-up from the get-go in a busy area - I'd rank it somewhere along the lines of Alternator. I mostly use it in super short range situations and don't even bother to use iron sights, just fire while running around the target super close to ensure most of the bullets get implanted all the way in

To be honest if I have a shotgun, it might just have to do until I get spitfire or 301. If I have a 301 or R-99, I'd rather go with Hemlok and single-tap for long range. I've done relatively well with Flatline if I'm not up against decent players with fully kitted defensive layers.

The Finals is shaping up to be quite the title. Created by Embark Studios - a Stockholm-based game studio that includes former Battlefield developers, The Finals plays like a game show mixed with the older Battlefield games' destruction systems. Considering how first-person shooter games have been stagnating these past few years, the upcoming free-to-play title looks like it will shake up the genre considerably.

The Finals will run a closed beta test from March 7-March 21, 2023. During this time, select PC players who manage to get access to the beta via Steam will be able to duke it out in either casual play or ranked tournaments. Both modes have the same rules, with ranked tournaments being comprised of multiple casual matches for those who manage to advance through the tournament. The closed beta has been going on for a while now, and while it is a good showcase of what the final game may be, it is missing one key component of most FPS games: iron sights.

Fans of first-person shooter games that have access to or tuned in to any of The Finals closed beta's material will immediately notice the lack of sights and scopes for most of the weapons. Almost all the weapons, be it the V9S silenced pistol for the Light Build or the M60 light machine gun for the Heavy Build, use iron sights. This means that players have no control over their guns' customization options when it comes to target acquisition.

While this isn't a dealbreaker for some, the fact that most of the guns in The Finals closed beta use iron sights means that the weapon models take up more screen space when players aim down sights. This ultimately makes it harder to get a bead on enemies, whether they be up close or far away. Add this to the myriad of effects that can proc during gameplay (the Flamethrower's fire effects in particular are a bit extreme when it comes to blocking the visions of affected players), and players can spend too much time staying stationary as they try to lock on to opponents.

This isn't to say The Finals closed beta is the first playable game that has dedicated iron sight weapons. Battlefield 1 is a prime example of such a title where most players have to contend with World War 1 weaponry like the Hotchkiss M1909 light machine gun and the Cei-Rigotti rifle. There are weapons with scopes, like the Springfield M1903 Mk. 1 rifle, but these are mostly reserved for the Scout class and are required to hit targets at a distance. Considering Battlefield 1 incorporates' the series' bullet drop mechanics, the addition of scopes on long-range rifles is warranted.

The Finals closed beta does not have the luxury of the era excuse. The game looks to be set in the not-too-distant future, as the arenas are virtual recreations of real-world locations. Engagements are usually mid-to-close-range and there is little to no bullet drop in the game. What's more, players can fine-tune their loadouts with more than just guns. The Assassin's Dagger, Sword, and weapons like the M32 grenade launcher require very little aiming and can take out enemies in their general attack vicinity. Those with iron sight guns might find themselves at a disadvantage when going up against such weapons, as it is harder to aim a precision weapon than one with a wide attack angle or splash damage.

There is a high possibility that Embark Studios will include the option that allows players to add and customize their gun sights, and it might even implement such a change before the closed beta is over. But this period in which iron sights are the norm won't go unnoticed, as players struggle to keep their reticle on the small Light Builds or the constantly moving Heavy Builds amidst the continuously changing battlefields.
