I prefer the sound scheme of Windows 7 HP to be set to "No Sounds" ALL the time. The problem is, when I switch themes, the themes switch sound schemes also. I know I can go in and disable/change to "No Sounds" every time by hand, but is there a way to turn it off and keep it off, regardless of the theme?
Deleting or renaming the folder sounds like one way to fix it, but I found that updating the registry to removing the sounds from all of the themes also works. This Powershell script will remove all of the sounds assigned to each sound scheme so that they all are equivalent to the No Sound scheme. (NOTE: you may want to backup the hkcu:\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps registry key first in case you want to recover the sounds later.
Been messing around with this myself, simply deleting all the audio-files in the Windows dir of the clients is both the least elegant and most surefire way of accomplishing this. I find it rather perplexing this can't be controlled in a more elegant manner, catering to a silent sound scheme is not exactly filling a niche.
In Windows Vista and later, you can control per-application sounds, including system sounds. Click the volume icon in the taskbar, then click on "mixer". check the @nhinkle answer, but be sure that you first put the volume to the minimum.
Like any operating system, Windows 10 is full of little sounds and jingles. They'll let you know if you make an error, receive a notification, complete a download, or when any other number of events occur.
Many people never bother to change their sound scheme. However, it's quite straightforward to do. We're going to show you how to customize the sounds on Windows 10, how to find new sounds themes and schemes, and how to improve the sound quality on your machine.
You can access the menu in two ways. Either head to Settings > System > Sound > Related settings > Sound control panel or open the Control Panel and click on Sound.
Windows 10 only comes with two native sound schemes: Windows Default and No Sounds. When you download more schemes and themes, they will become available in the Sound Scheme drop-down menu.
You can change individual sounds on a case-by-case basis for each program on the computer by using the list of events in the second drop-down menu. Choose a native sound from the list or click on Browse to select another sound file on your computer.
Do note that sounds used within the Windows 10 operating system must be in the WAV format. If you have a custom sound file saved as MP3, WMA, or something else, you need to convert it into WAV before you can use it.
Perhaps a better way of customizing sounds on Windows 10 is to use a theme. Many of the themes in the Windows 10 store also come with their own sounds. You don't even need to use the theme's wallpapers, colors, and mouse cursors if you don't want to.
The easiest place to find themes with custom sounds is in Microsoft's official repository. Navigate to the store on your browser and select With custom sounds from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
Once the theme is installed on your machine, the associated sound scheme will become available in the Sound Schemes drop-down menu that we discussed previously. You can remove the visual parts of the theme in Settings > Personalization > Themes.
Warning: Sound boosters should be used for audio that is too quiet when your system's audio is already at 100 percent volume. Setting the volume too high could irreparably damage your speakers.
If you don't have any other apps running, you'll only see sliders for your speakers and the system sounds. However, any other apps playing audio will also show up; you can edit their volume levels individually for specific apps as a percentage of the master volume.
There are a few other sound settings you should know about. In Settings > System > Sound, you can choose your input and output speakers, test your microphone, and perform troubleshooting steps.
Otherwise, you now know how to customize the sound effects in Windows 10. And if you need some additional inspiration, there are plenty of websites where you can download premade Windows 10 sounds for free.
Hey guys, I have manually added theme music files to my folders according to the naming rules described on your website. However, even after rescanning the media folders again, the theme music still does not play either on the web version or on the app. The only way that works is by removing the all the media files and adding them back, and then rescanning the folder, is that a bug or something? Could you guys help me solve this problem.
Not that I know of, just tested manually adding theme music to one item, having no issues for it to be recognized/played either on stable or beta sever. Which server version & platform you're running?
Yes, I ran both Scan library and Refresh metadatait just didn't work. The only solution I found is to first move /Interstellar(2014) out of the Movie folder, and then delete the movie from the webpage, and then move /Interstellar(2014) back to /Movies, and run Scan library again, after that the theme song will finally start playing.
Sorry, cannot recreate, wherever I put theme.mp3 it just plays upon scan. Try manually running Scan media library scheduled task (Settings>(scroll down) Scheduled Tasks tab>(scroll mid way) Scan media library>press Play icon right-end) instead of library menu Scan library files, see whether that'll make a difference (though it generally shouldn't).
I just put the mp3 or flac theme music file in a subfolder theme-music. Make sure you have a correctly made .mp3 file and you are not just renaming a different audio codec type file to the mp3 extension.
Also, there appears to be a bug that causes theme music to not play. If the folder name is different from the main video name before any dash, then theme music fails to play.
This seems to stop theme music from playing.
But sounds like @MovieGoer2021is having database issues if removing, scanning, readding corrects the issue. Delete is not needed as Emby will automatically remove it via RTM or library scan (should be full scan to clear the database completely) when items are physically removed from library folder.
I get stressed by the audio alerts from my Windows PC. The sounds are loud and insistent, and they disrupt my thoughts and my work. They demand focus and attention, even though most of the sound alerts are unimportant and would be better served by no sound or at least a subtler audio queue.
The different soundscape for Dark mode seems to have been designed to make your PC quieter in the evenings. This feature would make more sense if paired with the Night light feature in Windows. Night light, a feature that reduces your exposure to blue light in the evenings, is designed to turn on automatically in the evenings. However, Dark mode is built on top of the Windows themes system (where the sound selection also lives), so it was probably easier to implement it here.
Microsoft might not have fixed the underlying issues for these unnecessary sound alerts in Windows 11. However, it has shortened and made them less disruptive. The Dark mode version of this particular alert stands out as much softer than the Light version. The Light version still makes it sound like something went wrong and requires my attention.
This document discusses the format of Theme (.theme) files. A .theme file is a .ini text file that is divided into sections, which specify visual elements that appear on a Windows desktop. Section names are wrapped in brackets ([]) in the .ini file.
A new file format, .themepack, was introduced with Windows 7 to help users share themes. Themes can be selected in the Personalization Control Panel only in Windows 7 Home Premium or higher, or only on Windows Server 2008 R2 when the Desktop component is installed.
The rest of the [Theme] section specifies custom icons for desktop features like Computer, My Documents, Network, and Recycle Bin. If you do not specify custom desktop icons, the desktop displays the system default desktop icons.
This section is optional. If you do not include this section in your .theme file, the system uses default settings. If your theme uses the Aero visual style, you should avoid overriding the default values in this section.
