ImportantDeleting photos and videos from the Google Photos app deletes the same items from your device. If these items are backed up, the same content will be deleted on all devices with backup turned on. Learn how to remove backed up photos & videos from Google Photos but not your device.
Here's the essence of the problem: I have DropBox Pro installed on an iPhone 5s, iPad Air, MacBook Pro and Windows desktop computer. I do NOT want to clog up my iPhone, iPad and MacBook with files from DropBox. I want to simply upload and then delete them from the mobile devices. I'd like to use automatic Camera Upload but when I delete the photos from my iPhone or iPad I do NOT want them deleted from DropBox...as has happened on numerous occasions (most recently when I exchanged a broken iPhone for a new one and then tried to copy content from one to the other and subsequently delete unwanted photos...on the iPhone, not "unwanted" from my DropBox space). So how do I do a one way sync? Keep in mind that after photos appear in the Camera Upload folder, I MOVE them to a different desired location...and when they're deleted from my iPhone, they are still deleted from the new location!
Did this post not resolve your issue? If so please give us some more information so we can try and help - please remember we cannot see over your shoulder so be as descriptive as possible!
1) Navigate to the location within your Dropbox where you'd like to upload files
2) Select the ellipsis button (...)
3) Tap the "Add Files" button to select the files to upload. There is also an option to create a new folder.
I was able to clear MANY gigs of space off of my iPad, iPhone, and my MacBook Pro Retina using this feature within the Dropbox App on all devices. After I kept them all opened and made sure all syncs were finished, I deleted an unwanted pic from my camera roll. This kept the pic on my dropbox while it was removed from every device I had it located on. The program worked flawlessly. I then deleted every pic from my devices as I only wanted access to them online since my Macbook or iPhone is almost always with me. Now, I'm completely untethered from my local internal and external storage. Perfect solution for the supply and demand I was needing so desperately.
this doesn't work for me. if I delete photos from my samsung smartphone then they immediately get deleted from the dropbox folder on my pc. I'd like to be able to free up space on my smartphone but keep the photos in Dropbox folder on other devices
Not true. The Dropbox app on mobile devices does not store files like the regular computer clients do. Yes, it may have a copy of the files for a short time, but this is just a cache. The only files stored permanently on mobile devices are those marked as available offline. Otherwise any files stored locally by the Dropbox app are periodically deleted automatically.
Deleting the photo from your Photo Gallery (after it has been uploaded of course) will not delete the copy that was uploaded to Dropbox. The Carousel app (discontinued) had a nice feature that would purge any photos from the gallery that had already been uploaded to Dropbox. It's likely that will be incorporated into the Dropbox client at some point.
If I click on a particular image in DropBox from the Photos tab and then select "..." for its settings I see that is say "Make Available for Offline" which can be toggled to "Remove From Device". Which is the correct setting to remove them my device?
Is there a way to set the default to "Remove From Device" if that is the setting I'm looking for? I don't seen any obvious way to select all the images and set this globally.
Current Setting on all images and movies in Dropbox - "Photos"
Hi I am new to Dropbox & I have downloaded all my photos into my Dropbox on my PC & now I am wanting to delete the photos off my iPhone & iPad what I want to know is will I lose them from my Dropbox on my PC if I delete them off my mobile devices please help
I agree, I strongly dislike the new "Photo Tour". It doesn't give me any control over what areas are featured first, and doesn't work well for my rooms, which are studio units. I really liked the old format where I could arrange all the photos in whatever order I wanted and guide the guests myself... Please AirBNB, make this an optional thing. It's not really an improvement.
Agreed! I finally got around to update the photos on our 10 listing ... didn't know any better and then realized the photo tour was horrid. I spent so much time selecting, uploading, sorting and captioning 40+ on each listing ... only to have this BS show up.
And if one more person on their staff says ... I totally understand ... no you don't unless you are semi retired and have the number of rentals I have. I usually try to take Saturdays off. Not today. I wish there were other choices.
@Jenny838 To delete a Photo Tour contact Airbnb support. They deleted it for me. Takes 2-3 days. I used their texting window interface to request this. The support person hands it off to another team.
Yes, the PT sucks big time for cases where you want to showcase beautiful outdoors first, before indoors. I wrote commercial software for over 31 years in oil industry. We tested before rollout. Nowadays they don't; rather let the public do the testing. Different scenarios, like beautiful outdoors settings, they don't consider before rollout. Pretty idiotic.
DO NOT erase labels! I charge 1300 a night with a one week minimum and Airbnb listed it as a studio with no bathrooms. Shocking we did not get ANY inquires and because of that it tanked my algorithm. Called Airbnb - 3 times got 3 different answers. I went in and labeled photos so it showed proper baths and bedrooms, my outside is gorgeous but they do not even show up in the first 8 photos.
Ok, read threads that say "Delete" is there and I still don't see it. I do on the "Files" screen, but not the Photos directory. Looking online in Firefox, I get NO option to delete a photo when selected. Been this way since the "change". So Dropbox is forcing us to use apps on our devices then to delete photo backups? I use the web with my company computer to share and manage photos from my company phone. I cannot put the apps on my company devices and need to be able to delete online. Please advise.
There is no longer an option to delete photos while on the Photos page. You need to do it from the Files page now. You can select a photo and click Show in folder, and it will take you to the Files view for that photo where you can delete.
Yes, it results in extra steps, but it's all we have right now. Dropbox is clearly moving away from a proper photos experience. Every time they say we're changing this to make it better they end up taking away more functionality.
This sucks; you cannot "see" a photo file and certainly don't know the name of the file to delete un files folder. This is going to force me to cancel my dropbox! Are you listening Dropbox admins???!!!
That would be an ok ....albeit longer.. way to do it; and it'd be better if the default "files" list could get set to "descending" either via name or time stamp. As it is, every time I click "show in folder" I have to reset list so I can do another egg hunt to get the file to show up on the screen. Is there a fix for that one? The system should take me straight to the file, not just to a folder where I have to search again. Althogh it is indeed checked when I do find it... wasted 15 min trying to delete one file though.
Your suggestion works up until it takes me to the folder for me to delete the photo. It brings up ALL my pictures and I am unable to locate the photo from the list of other photos so i can delete it. and it is SO slow! this is very frustrating!
I am trying to figure out how to delete photos as well and this is EXTREMELY frustrating. I will be cancelling my dropbox as soon as I can upload all of my photos to my google drive. May take a while but this is absolutely ridiculous.
I have the same problem, spent already 1 hour just to remove a picture, there is no x if I hover over the picture and I tried with several browsers. If I click on the picture the menu that comes up only gives options to replace or edit but I simply want to DELETE it.
In the edit mode, hover over the image to be deleted [do not click on it]. The element frame will become visible around the image. Move mouse pointer to upper right hand corner of the element frame [there is an X there], now click on the X to remove the element [image] and confirm the deletion.
My god you never answer him just keep asking questions that arn't what he is asking. I have the same problem I click on an image-edit then there is no x on the right hand side. There is one on the left but all that does is close the image back down.
Hey there - I read somewhere that optimizing file type and size will make my Weebly site load a bit faster. However, I can't find the media library anywhere on the backend. Can you point me in the right direction? So I can delete old/wrong file type images and replace with optimized ones?
I have the same problem. No way to delete, only to replace. Only way round that I found was to use my graphics program to make a tiny white square, 2 pixels by 2 pixels, then used that to replace the image I no longer wanted to see.
No, the answer was on point. Open the note on your phone with the photo in it, select the photo, press the enter/return key, then backspace until the photo is gone. I have an iphone. I have evernote on an iphone. I just did the above steps. And the photo in the note was deleted.
I just got my R8 so I'm still trying to learn where everything is. I go to view the photos I've taken and I wanted to delete some test photos. I click the trash can button like I have with my last Canon camera. Once clicked the screen then reads "sending" but I have no clue where it is trying to send it. Once the message disappears the test photo is still there. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? Is there a setting that I don't know about stopping it from deleting? I used the camera card on my other camera and the delete function works as normal.
