Hey guys, So ive gone through made sure rootkits and everything was enabled. but malwarebytes just doesnt find the things spyhunter does. All databases are up to date and im justs testing out applications before i buy one. Why would wouldnt malwarebytes find them?

Hello and :

It's impossible to say without more data.
For general reference, though, please see this pinned topic: The complexity of finding, preventing, and cleanup from malware

Also, there are more than a few "Spyhunter" applications out there, and some of them are rogues.
Rogue security applications often "find" items that aren't there, as a way to scare the owner into buying the product (or worse).

In order for us to better assist you, it would help if you could please:

As far as false finds. the problem is i was trying to get rid of looksafesearch. malwarebytes didnt say it found it, but the symptoms cleared up for a few hours. tried again, same results, spyhunter says hey here it is. but again im looking for the best scanner. ill get the logs uploaded for everyone.

Sorry, but we have asked repeatedly for the minimal data needed to help to answer your original question.

Without those logs, we really cannot provide any further assistance here in this section of the forum.

If you think you might be infected, based on the Spyhunter logs, any other scan logs, abnormal computer behavior, or other symptoms, then I suggest that you might want to please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND

i came looking to see if there was a option i needed to enable. or if the freeware wasnt working ect. I have no problem getting these logs that are asked for. but again, i can not find the first three logs the frst.txt and those. im sure im missing something obvious and to all those in the know on how malwarebytes works it could be irritating but at the end of the day, helping me here will enable the next guy to find such a thread and not ask the question again.

Hi:

We are not in front of your computer.
So there no way we can know what is installed on it, what "Spyhunter" finds, why "Spyhunter" finds items that MBAM "missed", or if you are infected.
That is why we ask for basic system info.
The logs provide minimal data to permit the forum staff and experts to further direct their advice to you.

I have just installed Affinity Designer Beta for Window following the install I elected to do a restart which triggered our firewall to do a scan. The result is a little worrisome, has any one else seen this, is this a thing to be concerned with - see attachment.

That all seems to be correct. As long as your download is digitally signed by Serif then it looks like a false positive. Our software does communicate with us to check for updates, pass crash reports and a few other things (like plugin support for Affinity Photo)

As the Affinity Window is fairly new could this be a clitch in SpyHunter, it lists 3000+ items many of which seem to be application modules like .css files. Does Serif not run applications against malware, spyware checkers, a warning like this could turn many users off of other Serif products.

This message caught my attention too and I did a web search on "Affinity Toolbar." I've added a partial screenshot of some of the hits and they look like they're not related to Serif. I did click on one of them but avoided anything more. It looks like a trick to me.

As I understand your question and situation, your computer has an "Affinity Toolbar" installed and it is causing a security alert in your firewall setup. Serif is the parent company that creates and sells Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer; they don't offer this "Affinity Toolbar." I did another web search on "Uninstall Affinity Toolbar" and included a screen capture below. Please try a web search on your computer and decide which way to go. As I see it, you have a web browser add-on or extension or some other kind of tool that added this toolbar to your web browser and it happens to be called "Affinity Toolbar," no relation to Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer. Web browser extensions, add-ons, etc. are generally uninstalled or disabled from the web browser menu.

Thanks for responding. When I deleted the Affinity Toolbar it also took the 3,479 associated modules which had also been red flagged. My only option is the shut down Spyhunter and do a reinstall of Affinity windows Beta. I am not that knowledgeable to know what Spyhunter will do when restarted.

Sorry for not getting back to this little problem but have been busy busy. OK. I did a completed check of my system for an Affinity (malware) toolbar and came up empty, Did a new install of Affinity Windows Beta and Lo and behold - I got an Affinity malware error, same one as before, I put it in quarantine and it greyed out my on screen Affinity icon. I guess I will not be able to use the Affinity Windows Beta, amazed that no one else has the same problem as SpyHunter is very popular.

I heard from Enigma Software who seem to have applied a fix for the Affinity Toolbar fire wall issue (see my first warning). Enigma asked me to update my Spy Hunter, then reinstall Affinity Windows Beta and reboot, letting Spy Hunter check my system. On completion all was clean no malware warnings. I am now testing Affinity Windows Beta.

You were using a sacrificial system and the warning you got was based purely on reputation, not on any actual positive or negative knowledge of the product. Therefore, please disregard the warning and use SpyHunter on that sacrificial system of yours. The results might surprise you.

Next, it removed my hosts file, which is part of my security layers, I was able to reinstate this however. I wasn't able to undo the changes to my DNS, even though the changes were neutral, there should have been a method of undoing them.

If spyhunter is bogus, when I put it on a laptop used by a teenager and it found 1000 or more items to remove after a year, and upon removal, the laptop no longer ran at a crawl but properly, we are short of a reason why that would happen.

Mcafee, well known. Failed to protect two of my computers from viruses/malware. One took a picture of our daughter sitting in bed tapping on the laptop, and demanded a ransom. I googled it on forums like these and manually managed to delete it.

I accept that you believe your opinion is correct. I think it is fair that you accept that I have found that no freeware including malwarebytes and others mentioned here, protects against hundreds of items of malware picked up on a weekly basis.

Spyhunter is difficult to remove others have said, and others too, that Enigma software have tried to repeatedly take money out of their account despite them trying to quit usage of the software, and that Enigma bury this subscription in the small print.

AND Mcafee, another well-known brand, did exactly all that hard-to deal with approach, and refused to cancel my subscription after their product failed to protect my pc. They took about a year and multiple contacts to accede. It was on a credit card, and so ONLY they could cancel payments.

Enigma Software is dragging Bleepingcomputer.com into a court battle; in my (as of 2016) only 34 years of PC experience BC.com has been since 2004 one of the very best sites for info and help on virus issues.

Don't know if it is even remotely possible that someone would be able to diagnose this via the forum, but I have a Spyhunter upright that seems to be having ROM errors. Often times it will not boot up when turned on (only get grey screen), other times it will boot after several minutes, and on rare occasions it comes up right away. Once it is on, sometimes the game resets itself (as if re-booting) and other times crashes completely during gameplay. My only real maintenance skills involve cleaning contacts and dust removal, but any ideas would be appreciated. Furthermore, if anyone is in the central Connecticut vicinity and would be willing to service the machine, please let me know your estimated costs to do this.

Pretty hard to help you on this one. Bally midway has 2 main problems. Bad power and bad ribbon connectors. Don't even touch your ribbon connectors... (connects the boards in the board stack) If you have not messed with them recently, they are possibly ok. Suspect power problems first.

Has the game ever been worked on? Is it 100% original? Someone may have already hacked in a switching power supply. If not, does it have battery acid damage on the power supply board? (look for a tootsie roll size battery leaking acid on the power supply board)

That would probably solve your problem. If you think you can handle the install, you should try it. The hardest part will be attaching the 2 wire taps to the power.(those 2 purple/blue wires). That will bypass the power supply board and convert you over to a switching power supply.

Also you still might have to replace the big blue caps in the bottom of the cabinet built into the transformer. Thats where you will have your AC wave problem. Arcadeshop also sells the transformer caps, but I think that might be a bit too dangerous for you to try to change.

Here are some pics; my desperate attempt to pick out the problems. I shot some video too, but it seems I'm not able to upload that type of file on AA. I have one close up of a resistor (?) that looks like it may be fried. Just about everything else on the board checks out okay. The ROM error LED blinks.
