Hey Ravish,

Don't lose your heart. Job life is like that only. Wherever you go, you will feel like "something is missing", always.
If you are planning for a switch, that's well and good, provided you have step-by-step plan for your new endeavor. What I mean to say is you should be well prepared for the possible hurdles at the beginning of the transition phase. But slowly, I am sure you will change gears to take pace.

Regarding detail of the Design Courses, I think there are people available in our group who are actually into this field. Anand, Rakesh, Vivek etc please give some suggestions yaar.

      All the Best, Ravish.

Hey buddy sorry for the late reply...as u have  relevant construction experience and also a through knowledge of Pipeline engineering.... why dont you do a PMI cousre and then later apply for project management roles in any of the consultancy (with this you get a lead PMC job - 70% Office 30% Site combination ) currently the market is really relly bad and there are no jobs any where, so just dont quit in haste, think abt it and take the transition very slow.. there are no projects any where......

If you like the field of inspection, please look into API Pipeline inspector course in the API website, i have heard it is gud and has a lot of scope, but is a little costly.. but mind you in this you will have do free lance ( which is very difficult during initial phase as it is highly dependent on contact ) or be part of quality and inspection team of any OEMs/ Consultants.

Good Luck

Hi Ravish,

Sorry for late reply, I agree with sabareesh advise, Go  for PMP certification It really boosts your career rather than choosing design field at this point of time and This is my opinion only.

If you are passionate towards design, MIT Pune is good institution.

Cheers

Hi Ravish,

Please don’t lose heart.  There are always good times and bad times.  It is very encouraging to know that you have opted out of stressing your life and looking towards a better change.  Have a steady mind and perseverance will get you where you want to go.

As far as I can tell, a jump direct from construction engineering to design will end up in a turmoil, since, design field after construction purely depends on the support, the joining organisation is going to provide you, how they perceive your construction experience in a design engineer perspective.
EPCs may like to use your construction experience, however sub-cons may act differently, starting you afresh.  I would suggest to take a break and learn some design course or design software course like Caesar will help you provide the link into design field.

Other lines,

PMP certification as Sabareesh suggested is a very good option.  Certifications requires maintenance every 3 years as far as I am aware, you have to earn 30 PDUs or something like that in 3 years of the valid credential certified PMP to maintain your certification.  30PDUs may be acquired from your organization depending upon your certification (depends on the company policy / superior regarding awarding PDUs), also, other recognized PDU providing seminars.   Read the entire site www.pmi.org for more details, FAQs, presentations, videos etc.

I have heard that SAP Certification is also providing many job opportunities and high paid salaries.  Again, SAP has a lot of modules to explore.

You can also do a Management Degree MBAwhich also may help you.

You can also apply for Teaching Jobs in good colleges?

On lighter note getting paid highly comes with high pressure, with high pressure comes high stresses to squeeze work from you.  Each and every job has it’s pros & cons.

Take a decision that best suits you.  Take Care.

Warm Regards,

Anand

There is a piping course in Suvidhya Institute of technology, Mumbai which may also bridge your gap between construction and design.
