1. A water wave rises and falls twice every four seconds. What is the period of the wave? What is its frequency? (8 points)

2 seconds per wave
.05 Kz

2. What is the period of radio station WKTO (88.7 FM)? Note: FM radio station frequencies are measured in megahertz, where 1 MHz = 1,000,000 Hz. (8 points)

3.38m

3. A wave in the ocean has amplitude of 3 m. Winds pick up suddenly, increasing the wave's amplitude to 6 m. How does this change in amplitude affect the wave's frequency and the amount of energy it transports? (8 points)

I believe the frequency does not change.

4. A wave's amplitude is 0.5 meters. If its amplitude is increased to 1 meter, how much does its energy change? (8 points)

E ≈ A² , so the energy transported is quadrupled.

5. You're holding a sound sensor in your hand as you leave the library. The sensor display reads 40 dB inside the library. After you walk out the front door, the sound of traffic on the busy street causes the sensor to read 80 dB. How many times louder is it outside the library compared with inside? (8 points)

40-50 -> 2x
50-60 -> 4x
60-70 -> 8x
70-80 -> 16x

6. On a sunny day, you and a friend are relaxing on the grass at a park. Your friend says that as the sun shines white light down on the park, the green light is absorbed into the grass, which is why it appears green. Do you agree with your friend? Explain why or why not. (10 points)

I do not agree

The grass appears green because green light is reflected. EVERYTHING BUT green is absorbed
