Position Location:  Richmond, VA
Duration: 7+ Months Contract

Level: Contractor – AIX and Linux Focus
Night shift work hours located in Richmond, VA
 
Job Description:
Accountable for the building and maintenance of AIX and Red Hat Linux servers in a dynamic environment.
The focal area will be in AIX Build, Maintenance and Automation. 
The role involves remediating the existing environment, deep expertise in AIX (and Linux preferred) and automation to simplify maintenance, break/fix, and design.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
Works with cross-functional teams. Partners with peers to understand areas of opportunity and to provide recommendations and improvements to processes, projects and services
Work independently
Breadth of skill across platforms
Detailed AIX and Linux knowledge (RHEL preferred)
Have an affinity to automate and partner with other teams to fix the environment
Troubleshoot complex environments
Ability to deep dive on technical problems and leverage available tools for resolution of complex problems
Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness
On call support
 
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years IT experience
5+ years technical experience with AIX and Linux 
Experience with automation, change and configuration management
A working understanding of code and scripting
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
Advanced knowledge of AIX, VIO, HMC, and NIM
Knowledge of PowerHA Cluster Software, configuration and management
Excellent technical, performance troubleshooting and analytical skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems/MIS or Science
5 Years experience in IT Development
5+ years technical experience with Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu) and AIX
Organized and detailed documentation skills
A work ethic with a focus on quality, results and customer satisfaction
