1.) I TURNED IN PAPER COPY.

2.) What are three characteristics of magma that course a volcano to have a huge eruption?

ANSWER: Gas is part of the magma and gets released during the eruption. Magma once it is above ground, its called lave. Lava from one volcano might act very differently from lava from another volcano, based of the viscosity of the lava. And finally tephra is the solid material that gets ejected, like ash, and rock.

3.) Volcanoes are able to form in several different plate-tectonic settings.
A.) How does a hot-spot super-volcano (such as Yellowstone) form?
ANSWER: 80 Kilometers beneath Earth, 1450 Celsius.
B.) What type of volcano is mount saint helens?
ANSWER: Stratovolcano.
C.) How is the formation of this type of volcano different than that of a hot-spot volcano?
ANSWER: Hot spot volcanoes.

4 .) Most hot-spot volcanoes erupt through oceanic crust.
A.) Do these hot-spot volcanoes tend to erupt more explosively than other volcanoes?
ANSWER: NO.

B.) What is an example of a hot-spot volcano that supports you answer?

ANSWER: An example of a hot-spot is the one operating under Hawaii, and others in the string, which are all formed from the same hotspot, but have moved alone due to tectonic movement.

5.) Why do oceanic hot-spot volcanoes often form a long line of volcanic islands?

ANSWER: Because the lithosphere ocean plate move with plate tectonics over the stationary mantle based hot-spot, forming a series of volcanoes.

6.) The internet is flooded with information on the Yellowstone super-volcano. What are two characteristics you use to determine if Web sites will have accurate information?
ANSWER: Unfamiliar and familiar.
