1) I TURNED IN THE PAPER COPY BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE DRAWN.
2) What causes the pressure to increase as you go deeper below the crust?
Answer: Density of the force increases as you go deeper below the crust.
3) If the inner core has the highest temperatures, why doesn't the rock it's made of melt?
Answer: The extremely high pressure at the inner core drives the melting point of the iron and other materials up beyond the temperature of the inner core. Therefore they remain solid.
4) Rock in the crust moves around differently than rock in the lower mantle.
A) Is the rock in the crust able to move around more easily than the rock in the lower mantle?
Answer: No, its the other way around. Rock in the mantle is hotter nearer to its point(through its still solid) more cooler like frozen ice and so its much harder to move around.
B) What causes the difference in the movement?
Answer: That there is no movement and there is movement.
5) This cross-section of Earth shows the paths of seismic waves from an earthquake. Letters are seismic stations on Earth's surface. Which station point would receive no seismic waves?
Answer: Letter D
6) Seismic waves that go straight through Earth make the trip very quickly.
A) What does that tell us about the composition of Earth's center?
Answer: Alpine mpr-m850
B) What characteristics of seismic waves tells you this?
Answer: S-waves: transverse and they can only travel through solids. P-waves: Longitudinal and they can only travel through solids and liquids.
