After a gap of almost a Century a book on nesting habits of Indian
birds has been brought out. This book titled “Diary on the Nesting
Behaviour of Indian Birds” is an interesting combination of laborious
field work for over 5 years by a layman Chinna Sathan and field
knowledge acquired over a lifetime by the famous birdman of
Koonthakulam, Bal Pandi. The book carries a foreword by Ashish
Kothari and is written in non technical language to capture the
interest of every bird lover. At the website http://nestingbook.webs.com

I appeal to all bird lovers to enthusiastically lend your support
since this book is
1. A product of years of actual painstaking work in the field
2. Contains a lot of new and interesting information on bird nesting
written in simple and easy to read language
3. Contains 300 original photographs shot by reputed wildlife
photographers exclusively for this book
4. Contains 50 drawings that add to the visual appeal of the book

Above all this book is co authored by Bal Pandi of Koonthakulam who
with his late wife has dedicated his life to birds and is a veritable
treasure trove of facts about birds. Today Bal Pandi has lost his
temporary job with the TN Forest Department and is living in poverty.
This man who lives a life in close proximity to nature and birds which
we all envy deserves the support and help of every bird lover in this
country. As a co author he will receive half of all royalties
accruing form the book.

while at the same time supporting a noble cause.

two unknown authors with their hard field work has been very good.
