Hi guys:
This year we have definitely gone overboard in the
technical department. This means two things (neither of which you have to pay
attention to, I'm just throwing it out there):
1) We could use some help physically with the set
up and tear down, if you can make it early or stay a little late, that would be
great.
2) We have an actual monitor mix console this year,
so any musicians that would like to get what they want in their own monitors,
please show up just a little early, so we can facilitate same.
I want to use a method that I've learned from some
of the 'festival' sound companies I've worked for in the past year (you'll never
get this experience at Swank), where we get folks in place, go thru the
instruments one at a time (instead of the mixes one at a time), and have you,
the player, raise your hand until you have enough.
So we'll start with the drums, and when you have
enough kick drum, you put your hand down, when you have enough snare, put
your hand down, etc, 'til we've gone thru all the channels (instruments). This
is very quick and efficient, but we need as many pertinent players there to make
it happen, otherwise its pretty much you get what the guy who was there
wanted....
This may all be greek to many, but those who want
to hear certain things in their monitor, will understand...
We will have 8 discreet mixes -
drums will get one, bass will get one, keys will
get one, horns will have two available, and anyone singing a lead will get one
(most likely, me Steve and Dave).
You may wish to think ahead about what you NEED to
get thru the set, or you may think this is all bull crap. I don't care, I just
want to work it out as best we can.
Please bear in mind that I didn't really start this
snowball rolling, but I was picked up by it.
Additionally, we plan to record the event on
a 24 track digital unit, and everyone will get a CD of it
eventually.
So......, stupid
enough????!?!?!?!?????!?!?!??
