Hi Michael,
How about a new 2.0.7 release of playn+tripleplay?
There has not been a huge amount of activity but there are a couple of fixes which would be nice to have in an "official" release :-)

Apologies for the slow reply. We're trying to ship a game, so I've been quite busy! I will try to sneak in a Maven release of PlayN as soon as I get a chance. Glad to see it's still being useful!

Yes PlayN + tripleplay is definitely useful! Nice to see that a release is coming.

OK, that was a bit of an adventure getting the release process working again. I had switched releases over to Bintray, which has since gone defunct (yay). And when I switched back to deploying via SonaType, things didn't work and many bits had rotted.
But I managed to slay the necessary dragons, and got a release out. It is PlayN and TriplePlay 2.0.8 because PlayN 2.0.7 turned out to have weird Maven problems that I didn't notice until it was already shipped.
Hopefully next time it won't be so complicated!

Hi Michael,
I am seeing issues with the 2.0.8 release on Android versions <= 8. The problem looks like this:
java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: The method 'java.lang.String java.lang.Object.toString()' was expected to be of type interface but instead was found to be of type virtual (declaration of 'playn.core.json.JsonStringWriter' appears in /data/app/com.ingelabs.cloudapp-1/base.apk:classes2.dex)
at playn.core.json.JsonStringWriter.write(JsonStringWriter.java:28)
at playn.core.json.JsonStringWriter.write(JsonStringWriter.java:28)

Looks like a binary compatibility issue. If I use a locally compiled version instead then the problem goes away.
I suspect this release has been built with a different JDK that for some reason is causing problems with Android? (probably affects tripleplay as well)
I have created a GH issue (in the PlayN repo only) for easier tracking.
