Hi,
I got this error from eclipse helios sr1. I found that, I first need
to run the application and try to debug it after, but it didn't
worked, too. It gave the same error. Any ideas ?

Use Debug button + Connect JPDA launch task.

I'm also having the same problem, and I couldn't find a "Connect JPDA
launch task"? Where is that/what is it? I'm new to Eclipse though so
maybe I'm missing something here.

Ok, I would have pasted two screenshots (urls), but apparently Google
Groups doesn't allow that.

One way can be:

Menu "Run"->"Debug Configurations"->"Remote Java Application"->"Connect JPDA to <you app name>"

Got it working, thank you!

I succeeded with a Java application, but, has anyone been able to
debug a Scala application? Should it be possible?

I'm not sure what happens, but I start the debugging, set a
breakpoint, but seems like the debugging is not really working (no
stopping at breakpoints).

Just to make more clear, I used Eclipse 3.5.2 + scala-ide for testing
the Scala debugging. I may have pushed the envelope too hard...

I had to also set the JPDA port to 8000 on my machine. It was 0 and
not connecting.

0 just means that it will choose any port available. The used port
will be displayed on the console at start.
