OOC What's been happening in Chaos Land

This is not an LOA, just a slow posting alert.

I'm a little bit stressed what with Christmas around the corner (or
rather the enforced be sociable/family time) playing havoc with my
PTSD, the lovely not quite summer but we'll make you feel like it
anyway heat, the migraine's I've been getting and the lack of sleep
(which is probably why I'm getting the migraines) all building up.

Add onto that that my sister found out she has hyperflexible joints,
and me coming to the realisation that crap. . . . its genetic and I
have nearly every symptom (including the aching joints).

My Niece Becca has been diagnosed with Tourettes- we were expecting
this but still, for it to be known, and knowing that there is no cure,
knowing there is nothing i can help this beautiful thirteen year old
to cope with it other then be on the phone and hug her long distance.
It is a bit of a relief however- at least we have an explanation for
some of the behavior in the past which she would get so upset about
(she used to lash out at people for no reason when she was much
younger, then be absolutely disgusted and ashamed and beg us to
believe her that she didn't mean it. It's heartbreaking to realise
that all those times that she told us that and we didn't believe her,
that she was actually telling the truth.

As if that wasn't stressful enough.


Last Friday Al (L's cousin and my surrogate lil bro) was at a friends
b'day party (he's 17) when a group of guys pretty much crashed it,
picked him out of a crowd and beat the crap out of him.

His best friend jumped in to get them to leave him alon (he's a small
16 yr old) as did Al's ex girlfriend (who is a whole of 5').

Both Al's mate and his ex ended up with head wounds, and his ex
actually, in the end, stood over the top of Al and told them that if
they wanted to keep going they had to hurt her too. I'm so proud of
that kid.

Al's ex pretty much got bad knock to the head and his best mate had
his head split open in his hair from where they broke a bottle on his
head. He also has black eyes and other facial injuries.

Al had his jaw broken in three places. He lost a couple of teeth and
now has a titanium plate holding his jaw together. He also has
significant bruising around his face and body.

The six guys who did this have been caught. They are responsible for
eleven bashings over the space of a month and they range in age from
16 to 22.

From when Al was attacked- if his ex hadn't have physically shielded
him it is likely that they wouldn't have stopped till he was dead.
This- it sickens me.


Soo- yeah. Al has some memory loss of what hapened that night and
he's holding together alright. I think its going to hit him hard
however when he realises how close he came to dying. This kid is the
guy I jokingly refer to as my kid bro.

It's scared me that we could have lost him.
