But despite having tried everything, you're at at a loss. All you want is for your clients to report their current status into WSUS on demand. Is that really too much to ask? Actually, it might be. If you google "force wsus client to check in to wsus server", you'll see almost 300,000 results. And I swear I've read every single one of them and tried every single suggestion.

I finally decided to take matters into my own hands. I built a lab environment consisting of a domain controller, a WSUS server and a client machine. I then proceeded to deep dive with process monitor and packet analyzers to try and find a way to "trick" the WSUS client into thinking it's time to report in. After many hours at this, I was just about to give up when I accidentally stumbled upon the magic command I was looking for.

Is there a new Report Viewer runtime for SQL 2016? I get the new report viewer UI when I log into the SSRS Reports manager, but, if I embed those reports in a website, it requires the Report Viewer redistributable, and the most recent one I can find is from 2015, which I assume will not have the new UI.

I can get the WSUS server to see the client computers, I can get it to synchronize with Microsoft and download the updates, but for the life of me, I cannot get it to push out the updates to the clients. I have triple and quadruple checked my gpo settings, and I can see in the logs on the client computers that they are looking to the WSUS for updates. I have managed to get the report viewer installed on the WSUS VM now thankfully. Any help would be most welcome!

When you generate a Patch Manager report (such as a WSUS report), Report Viewer opens in a new window. Use Report Viewer to customize the report layout and filter and sort the report results. When you are finished, configure the report viewer email settings, and then export and email the report results to one or more users.

After you set up the WSUS inventory, you can review the server status using the WSUS reports. These reports provide information about your WSUS server performance and update packages installed on managed systems by the WSUS server.

hello everyone,
i have created wsus server windows 2019. Now all i have set configuration including GPO also clients are showing my console i select 2 system and approve to install when i check from client side downloading is still pending from yesterday shown 0% only so to do the next step kindly help me

we have one internet facing WSUS which download updates from Microsoft wsus. There we export updates and import updates to disconnected upstream WSUS server.
From this disconnected upstream server successfully downloaded updates to Sccm . But same updates failed to download into another downstream WSUS server

I have setup a WSUS server in Windows 2019 STD, all of my domain computers reported to the WSUS server, but half of them did not show the Last Reported. Any idea of why? Please help. Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for the post. I have WSUS working on a fresh install of 2019 Server and machines migrated and are updating. However the report viewer is not available. What things did you install (and in what order) to get that working?

When you click on report viewer it will give you a link to Click on to download report viewer. If you receive an error explaining you need frame work 2.0 you need to install it by adding to roles and features and select frame work 3.5. You will more then likely get do you need to specify an alternate source path that is highlighted in yellow at the top of the page. In that case select the specify an alternate source path link and point to your 2019 OS sources folder.

I am having the same issue but just recently. SCCM 2012 sp1, running on Server 2008 R2, WSUS version 3.0 SP2 3.2.7600.226. I have 3 updates with download errors of the Microsoft Software License Terms, all others are good. I have done the suggested fix un-selected SUP classifications, ran wsusutil reset, manual sync, which did timeout, selected SUP classifications, ran manual sync and still same results. So with the failed sync my SUP is syncing every hour instead of on the configured schedule. My SCCM server has been up since Oct. 2012,

WSUS Synchronization failed. Message: WSUS server not configured. Please refer to WCM.log for configuration error details..Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync.The operating system reported error 2147500037: Unspecified error

You can pull reports from any kind of WSUS server, root, autonomous, and replica. Requirements are Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 Runtime, and to be able to install that you will need to download a component from the SQL Server 2012 feature pack which is called Microsoft System CLR Types for Microsoft SQL Server 2012

If you double click on one update it will generate an ad hoc report. Notice at the top I can click the blue links to change the WSUS groups that are included in the report. I can change the status as well. I can specify if I have multiple WSUS servers, do I want to see information from replica downstream servers and so forth. I can see a description of the update, the approval summary, the status summary.

While presenting at the Philly PowerShell User Group on Thursday, one of the things that I showed in my examples was an HTML report that I wrote for WSUS. This report basically does a report on various components of a WSUS server to include its version as well as the upstream server that it is using to synchronize with.
