Teijin raises bioplastic's hydrolytic performance
The Japanese supplier of stereocomplex polylactic acid (PLA) polymer says its biodegradable offering now boasts virtually the same level of durability as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin.The new Biofront is said to possess at least 10 times more hydrolytic resistance than conventional commercial bioplastics, translating to substantially improved resistance to hydrolytic degradation in hot and humid conditions. ...Read more

Pepsi opens PET bottle plant in Russia
Pepsi's presence in Russia goes back to 1959 but will be significantly expanded with a new PET bottle plant, which the company says will be its largest globally when at full capacity. In 1959, the company's CEO met with Nikita Kruschev; 50 years on, the current head will meet with Russian and American leaders Medvedev and Obama this week in Moscow. ...Read more
