to Stop the Plastic Wave, Wes Womack, Cristin Cronin, Michael Stewart, Adam Weiner, Darin Rosas
Hello Team Plastic -
You are invited to the next Plastic Committee meeting wanted to get a meeting on the calendar to get together, Monday, Oct 25, 7pm.
Location: The Tides Center in the Presidio, followed by apres meeting c-tails at Lils.
This coastal town in Italy banned plastic bottled water! This is exactly what we are trying to do for the OB Plastic Ban (see below). They have installed new, advanced drinking fountains (with bubble water!!). This is the type of implementable but visionary non-plastic living behavior that we need too!
There are three primary buckets of plastic programs right now.
Let's discuss these and how to move them forward at our meeting
1. Cbox going on plastic expedition: fundraiser, programming, communication, etc.
2. OB Plastic Ban & Sculpture: I have 7 merchants signed up and the location has been confirmed for the wave to go on display (Sea Biscuit Cafe on Noriega). See attached draft press release. Lara is sending it out through her agency, additional help on this welcome. If anyone wants to help on this mission, here is what I'm working on:
A. Merchants: the more we can get the better. Use this draft press release to show them and see if they will join. Focus in on the outer sunset.
B. Hoist crew - can use a few more good men for this. i have a few wave veterans lined up (wes, pete, pete. . )
C. Platform - i have a design for platform for the wave to sit on but need some builders to help construct it.
D. Partners - are there any other plastic or ocean/surf related organizations that we should include? I wrote to the Plastic Pollution crew but have not heard back.
E. Party????? after the raising?
3. Various Legislation: This is primarily through National/Sarah D. Ban the Bag LOST at the state level. There is a big push in San Jose right now. Looking for someone to be point on this aspect. Ideally, we get the local politicians (Gavin) involved in the event above and he followes the Italian village of Cinque Terre!
Other Topics for the meeting?
If anyone is interested in working on the OB Plastic Coalition Project before the next meeting, email me at
