Hey Surfrider Crew --

As you know, the expanded plastic bag ban has been making its way through the San Francisco's city government process. It was reviewed and discussed last week; and next Tuesday, DEC 6 at 2PM it will be VOTED on. This is a big deal and we want it to pass. So please post our Action Alert (http://action.surfrider.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=5013) on your Facebook and send it around to your friends. Folks can also show up to the meeting on Tuesday and voice support or call the local Board of Supervisors (http://www.sfbos.org/). I have phone numbers etc if you email me.

Here is Tuesday's agenda:

Here is the Action Alert:

Overview -- The current plastic bag ban ordinance bans single-use plastic bags at large grocery stores and pharmacies (stores that make over 2M in sales per year). The expanded plastic bag ban ordinance will ban the use of single-use plastic bags in all retailers and restaurants and add a $0.10 fee for the use of paper bags in San Francisco. The expansion will eliminate a lot of the City's waste and help reduce plastic pollution in our oceans. The fee will hopefully encourage people to bring their own bags.

I can give you more info if you want!

Also, let me know if you are planning on going to the meeting on next TUES.

Thanks!
