Hi everyone,

We are working on a paper on the need for an open source software ecosystem for plasma physics to be submitted to the Plasma 2020 decadal review of plasma physics.  This decadal review will significantly affect policy and funding decisions in the US over the next ten years, and we are making the case that the final report should recommend investment in open software infrastructure.  We are hoping to demonstrate that there is strong community support, so we encourage you to sign up as a co-author/co-signer if you support this.

If you have or create an Overleaf account, please feel free to add your name, affiliation, and (optionally) ORCID directly using the link to edit the document.  Otherwise, please feel free to email me with that information.  Comments and suggestions are welcome too (preferably by Wednesday).

We will be talking about this during our biweekly community meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb 5) at 18 UT on PlasmaPy's Jitsi channel.

Many thanks!
Nick
