Yo! We need help naming our next game. We want to name the game early
on so we can start sending out material to the gaming press and
building word-of-mouth. Here's the official, Nintendo-approved,
description:

RiverMan Media's next WiiWare project is an arena-based 2D platform
game in which a family of telekinetic siblings defend their hometown
against monsters. Standard platform mechanics are enhanced by allowing
the player to control their telekinetic powers using the Wii Remote's
pointer. Players can throw objects, build defensive walls, trap
enemies, levitate themselves, flip switches, and grab items, all by
using the power of their minds! The game features fast, cooperative,
four-player action, a variety of game modes, and lots of unlockable
content. The game will use RiverMan's new proprietary animation
system, DMorph, for limitlessly smooth 2D animation, and Box2D, the
physics system used in Crayon Physics.

So, the key concepts are telekinsis, a family, defending your town,
etc. The target audience will probably be similar to Smash Bros.

Ideas?

Thanks!
Jacob

Awesome idea - I can't wait to play it!

My initial name ideas:
- Nitwits
- Wii Scrappy Few

I'll post more as I think of 'em!

Awesome game idea!

How about something along the lines of "Meet The Weirdsons" or
"Psyville". "Super Psychic Smash Town" would be fun, but a bit rip-
offy. How about old school B-Movie style: "They Came From His
Brain!?!"

Ooh, I like Psyville.

Great ideas guys!

Abe, I love the word "scrappy" though I looked up the WiiWare rules
online, and we can't use "Wii" in a game title. However, something
else with Scrappy could definitely work. Biggles, the idea of using a
phrase like "They Came From His Brain" is definitely interesting. I
like when movie titles do that. I like the Smash-y name in general,
but I think this game is going to draw enough comparisons to Smash
Bros. as it is! Psyville is cool too. Maybe with a subtitle, or as
part of a subtitle.

My ideas were:
Mind Over Monster (Already the title of a self help book,
unfortunately)
The Telekinetic Five
The Civic Minded Five

Please, keep 'em coming!

I chatted with a juggler a while back on the mechanics of telekinetic
juggling.. would "PsyJugglers" fit?
"Psychoforce" also comes to mind, but that might put you in trouble
with LucasArts.

If you try to use telekinesis while airborne or on a slippery surface,
does something like Newton's third law apply?

Psychoforce is pretty cool. I doubt its an issue. There are quite a
few titles (like movies) with the word force in the name.

Telekinetic Psychoforce = AAA game

Psychic Contenders
Mystic Brood
Psychic Fellowship
The Mystics

(this may be a double reply -- I'm new to Goolge groups [sorry if it
is])

Thanks for the great ideas everyone! We're still playing around with what mood we want to portray, which will affect the title. Everyone's input is really appreciated!
