Student Application Period Now Open!

Hello all,

As of yesterday, you can all begin applying to our organization! You have until March 27th to complete and submit your application. Note that you can edit your application after you submit it. If you submit your application early, we will contact you if we have any questions, and you will have time to edit your application.

Your application needs to use the template at: https://github.com/plasma-umass/GSoC/wiki/Application-Template

It's very important that you take the questions on the template seriously, especially the project timeline! Please take a look at the template as soon as you can.

If you have any general questions about the template or any of the projects/ideas, you can post them here. You can also solicit feedback from the PLASMA member overseeing your project on a draft of your application, and they will provide some general guidance. We want your applications to be the best they can be!

Some notes:

• Complete a starter task before applying. This is not optional. Through the starter task, you will meet the mentor behind the idea you are interested in, and you will demonstrate that you have the skills needed to make progress on the project.
• We will not tell you what your chances are of being accepted, so please do not ask.
• We will not tell you how many people applied to the same project.
• We will not directly edit your application. We will provide high-level feedback, and some questions you might want to think about.
• Do not be afraid to ask us questions! We are available for questions on this mailing list and on IRC, and are happy to answer them. If you are seeking feedback on IRC, please be patient; we have busy schedules, and are not always immediately available.
