I am interested in working on the support of multi-process application.

I have worked on the following starter task:

Build coz on your machine

(done)

Insert a progress point in pbzip2

(I added a pair of CAUSAL_BEGIN and CAUSAL_END in the "do_write function" to measure average latency )

Build pbzip2 with debug information

(done)

Collect a causal profile from pbzip2

(I used the suggested "repeat" method with .bash_aliases to repeat it for 20 times)

Graph the causal profile results using coz

(coz-plot worked for "consumer_producer" test case, but the coz plot is not working well with "pbzip2" and "word count".For both of them I used a raw_data of size 192MB. wondering why the coz-plot is not working for these two cases.... but with manual checking into profile.coz, they look normal)

(BONUS) Collect and graph another causal profile for pbzip2, this time including potential optimizations in libbz2 instead of just the pbzip2 executable.

(I wanna clear the problem 5 before approaching this one)

Hope I can get into the proposal part asap since the March 27th is coming

Updates:

Now the "CAUSAL_BEGIN" and "CAUSAL_END" are working for pbzip2 under the function of 'do_write'

coz plot is also working well

For result, please look at the following shared folder:

Now I try to switch all the conversations to this thread.
