Notcounting computer plugins or samples, what new drum synths today can do synthwave and darkwave drums in hardware? I get close on my Virus but looking at new hardware options. Otherwise can just use samples in Ableton Live.

Plus one for the LXR-02, especially for the darker side of things. It may not be what all the top darkwave artists now are using, but it instantly transports me to the vibe of all the early darkwave records I love. In its best moments it sounds kinda like an 808 or 707 blasted through an overdriven guitar amp, which is precisely what some of the early darkwave artists were doing.

Synthwave can be everything from the classically 80's inspired tones all the way to modern Neo-retro type sounds that are decidedly in theme but only possible due to modern synthesis techniques and technology.
