The Lockes have lived in our new place in Alameda for nearly a month now. In light of all the packing/moving/settling in, I have not had the chance to ask for prayer here in a little while. I'm sorry for the radio silence, but truly do covet your prayer as we seek to be faithful to the work God has called us to. Thank you in advance for partnering with us in this work through prayer to our great God who is able to give all we ask of him.

Requests
  • Pray for people in Alameda – There are now names and faces to go along with this general prayer. God has graciously provided Kathy and I many opportunities to meet people here, build friendships, and learn better how to communicate the gospel in this context. I would love to share more with you about the people I'm praying for, but won't here since it is a public group. If you would like to pray for specific people with me, please send a quick email, text or phone call. We are still praying that God would bring 10 people to faith in the first year of our plant, and that work begins now.
  • Pray that God would build the plant team – In the past month of meeting people, I've seen all the more how crucial a vital and faithful Christian community will be to reaching Alameda with the gospel. We already feel blessed to be building community here with fellow believers, and desire even more of this. Please pray that God would call people to work alongside us, that he would build the faith of those already committed, and that we would be knit together in love for each other, for this city, and for the Lord Jesus. Pray that we would love our neighbors together and boldly tell them of all God has done for us in Christ.
  • Pray for a church meeting location – We are still a ways off from having Sunday meetings, but this will be an important piece of the puzzle down the road. There are a limited number of places where a church could meet in Alameda, and rentals and real estate are expensive here. Please pray that God would give us wisdom and discernment as we start looking around, and that he would lead us exactly where he wants us to be.
Updates
One blessing of living where we do is that there is a farmer's market on our street one block away every Tuesday and Saturday. Of course, it's great to have a farmer's market near you because farmer's markets are great places to buy fresh produce and other tasty things. But it has also proven a great place to meet Alamedans, learn about our community, and be on mission. In fact, Jonas, Penny and I will head over there shortly.

I thought I'd include a few pictures this time, 1) of our new place in Alameda, 2) of Jonas and Penny on Webster St. (a block away) during morning coffee, and 3) of Jonas and Penny at the beach near our house. Hopefully, these will give something of a sense of what life is like for us here.

As always, if you or someone you know may be interested in being part of the plant team, please don't hesitate to contact me. My information is below.

Blessings in Christ and thank you for your prayers,
