Some scientists believe the BAs (Brassinosteroids) and the GAs
(Gibberellins) are part of the same chemical hormone cascade pathway.
They appear to similarly cause inhibition of root growth, and an
exageration of shoot growth.

I think an overall role for the BA/GA Cascade in plant physiology can
be established. See my paper at http://www.planthormones.info for more
details.

I think BA/GA is made by any cell when it is has less than enoough
shoot derived nutrients than needed for survival for both it and any
dependent cell (root cells are dependent on shoot cells for their sugar
and gases - however root cells themselves have no cells that are
dependent on them when it comes to sugar and gases).

GA/BA is the signal that growth of a root oriented kind must stop and
in fact roots may even have to must be pruned back and the resources
sent to the shoots to make more leaves and stem material thus
increasing sugar and gas acquisition.
