It appears that the program does not trust its own date format.  When adding a new event, and selecting a start date from the calendar popup, it returns an error that states the format is wrong whenever one tries to test or save the event.  That cannot be correct if it inserted the format to begin with.

See attached screenshot.

The error has nothing to do with the date you entered. It is generated when you have selected the event to be recurring (Recurrence tab>check "Recurring event") but haven't ticked any options other than checking the box. I replicated the error on my installation. The hint was in the error messages "Recurring Date error".

Good luck,
Kevin

"Repeat until:" is in red for a reason ;)
If you click on "Preview Dates" it will tell you that it can't be left blank.

This is the error message displayed when clicking "Preview Dates" without filling in the "Repeat until" field:

For the recurring event end date, The date () appears to be formatted incorrectly. It should be in the format mm/dd/yyyy! The event date was blank!

Emphasis is mine.

Yes, I found that out on my own.  I thought I had posted that here, but obviously forgot.

When a person wishes to enter a reoccurring event in Lightning, it goes on forever, until changed.  At any time it can be stopped or changed.  I had made the assumption that this worked that way as well.  Not a biggie, but a bit of a pain, since no one knows when it will end.

Thanks..

FWIW, on recurring events I usually go out only 1 or 2 years. Things change and it would really suck to have to delete 6 years of weekly meetings and then re-enter them with a different time or place or day :D

I'll also add that the error messages are sometime a bit cryptic for non-programmers such as you and I.

Anyway, glad it's sorted out for you!

Merry Christmas!

Kevin
