Hello, my name is Jennifer Scogin.  I have been cloth diapering my son Austin(DOB:02/25/2010) since he was 6 weeks old.  We use Bumgenius All-in-One Organics and Bumgenius 3.0 (both one-size fits all).  We LOVE them!  Both my husband and I work full-time (I work for Frisco ISD so I am off right now) and Austin goes to Montessorri school and they don't mind his diapers at all!  I also sing and dance in a competitive women's barbershop chorus (5 gold medals - toot, toot), so if we have time to cloth diaper, ANYONE can!  I am excited to learn more about all of you and to learn more about cloth diapering!

Love,
Jen Scogin

As far as I know there are no instructions to rinse the BG 3.0 inserts before washing.  Have you considered sunning the inserts to get the stains out?  After you wash them, but before you dry them, lay them outside in the sun for several hours.  The stains will lighten or disappear, plus as a bonus the sunlight disinfects your diapers.

Hi,
We use the BumGenius 3.0s also. DS was born 2/6/2010.
Do you know if we are supposed to rinse out the inserts before
washing? I've noticed the poop stains are still on the insert after
following their instructions of cold-wash, hot-wash, extra rinse. DS
is exclusively breast-fed and we have not started solids.

Peroxide is also a natural bleaching agent - though not as strong as
bleach (which I don't recommend). Try adding 1/4 cup of peroxide to
your wash cycle. Combining this with sunning is a great whitening
combo. You can find more tips like this online at http://www.pootersdiapers.com/hard-to-remove-stains/
.

Hope that helps.

I like to do a cold rinse on my diapers. Then I add my detergent and
do a full cycle. I have washing tips etc on my site and blog at www.nappyshoppe.com
.

For stains, drying in the sun works best.

Maggie,

The other suggestions I could add to the great suggestions you've already gotten is to ask what detergent your using and see if your getting any build up from the detergent. Because buildup can cause more staining problems. Do you diapers seem less absorbant than when you started using them? Are you noticing any odor problems? If so you might try stripping the diapers and changing your detergent. If you think this might be your problem, let me know and I'll send you some info on stripping and some links on detergents.

Hi Maj,
I tried the peroxide in the cold and then peroxide in the hot wash and the stains did come out better. There was one insert that still had stains after two washes and an extra cold rinse that I sunned it outside. So, yes, the combination of peroxide and sunning did work. Thanks.
