Oh man! Forever I had in my mind that the meeting was on Friday! I went to look for the address and saw that I missed it.

I wanted to ask the easiest way to strip diapers. A friend told me all she did was put a little dish soap and that did the job. I am finding that Austin is peeing through is diapers. I am not sure if the absorbency is not as strong or if he needs more inserts. Thought I would try to do a proper strip to see if that helps.

What are you using on him. If the inserts are wet then you may need
more absorbency.

Rlr is another good way to strip diapers but not as cheap as dawn.

We use Bumgenius organic all-in-ones one-size, and the Bumgenius one-size pocket insert with velcro. Sometime the pee is in the leg area and sometimes it is on his belly area. He is 5 months old and we have been using the diapers since he was 6 weeks old and this is just now starting to happen.  I always try to make sure his "winkie" is pointed down and I try to make sure the diaper fits snuggly.  It happens at various times so it isn't like a nightime thing or any time in particular.

How often are you changing him and how wet is the diaper. As babies grow wetting patterns change. My son for instance was a very heavy wetter and is not as heavy these days.

The other issue could be as baby grows diapers fit differently. What snap setting are you on?

If you want you can come to the store and I can check the fit.

Also if it is repelling -- how are you washing them?  Are you using any creams??

I change him after each feeding (every 3-4 hours), unless he poops in between.  Sometimes he is pretty wet, other times not so much.  When we bathe him he sometimes pees and it will be about a foot high, I don't know if that means he is a fast pee-er.  I have him on the second snap (Medium) he was about 16 lbs about 4 weeks ago.

My normal wash is cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse (sometimes if they still kinda smell a little), dry on medium if I am in a hurry or I air dry if I am not almost out of diapers.  He hardly gets diaper rash, but when he does I use California Baby (I read that was cloth diaper safe).

I would love to go to your store!  My parents live in Allen and My hubby works in Allen.  Your website says by appointment only, are you available on weekends or evenings?

Love,
Jen Scogin

Hi Jen,

My son is 6 mon old this week. I change him more often than every 3-4 hours. The only time he goes that long is if he's sleeping.
I've noticed with the first morning diaper, it can get soaked within an hour or 1.5 hours. I've read in an EC book that babies wet more in the morning. Have you noticed he wets more often or has more pee in the morning?
The rest of the day, I probably change him every 2 hours, or whenever he's wet and I can feel the moisture in the leg band.
But, that's just me. I'm wondering what other people do/have done.

Maggie

My son was a really bad sleeper when he was smaller and he fed alot.  So I would end up changing every two hours because he peed so much.

I have had my son at the same school since he was 7 weeks old and he has been in cloth there the entire time.  His teachers don't mind at all and they said they have had other babies in them before.  Well, there is a new director and one of my sons teachers told me that a week ago she made a comment about the cloth diapers and that she thought that Collin County had a law against it in day care.  The teachers said they told the director that Austin had been in them the entire time and that it was no different than putting a disposable in the trash, they just put Austin's in his wet bag and keep it closed.  The teachers told me they have kinda tried to not ignore her and not bring it up again but they wanted me to know in case the director said something.

I tried to look up to see if there was a law against it, and I didn't see anything.  All I found that it said was the parents had to provide the diapers and a place to keep the soiled ones and that the day care could not wash or soak them and one article I found on a cloth diapering/eco site said that you could have your doctor write a note that it is necessary because of sensitive skin that the day care could keep on file if a inspector ever questioned.  Does anyone have any documentation that I could have so that if the director brings it up I can be ready?

Love,

Here's a link to the actual Texas regulation regarding diapering in daycares:

In short, the code says you must cover containers used for soiled diapers or keep them in a sanitary manner.  Because of the way the code is written, you can solve this problem by providing individual bags or a wet bag for them to put the soiled diapers in.
