Hello NYC-based planning tech people.

Got a planning and technology project going on? Interested in co-working for a few hours with like-minded civic hackers, planners, data nerds and mappers?

As an experiment, let's try out an evening devoted to civic hacking projects, starting tonight. If it's a success, we'll repeat next week, and beyond.

Interested? Join us at 148 Lafayette St from 7pm. There may be beer. Bring your laptop and project. Let me know off-list if you're thinking of showing up, or are interested in future meetups.

Frank

The OASIS changes sound very interesting, I'm looking forward to trying it out. If you're curious, Steve will be demoing at Hacks/Hackers on Tuesday evening: http://meetupnyc.hackshackers.com/events/16882913/

Steve, as well as any feedback you get from this group, it would be great to have you present at a Planning Corps meeting soon. Let's discuss off-list.

Frank,

I won’t be able to make it tonight, but I was wondering if we could get some feedback from the group on a new feature we’ve added to the OASIS mapping site.  We’ve integrated Google’s Fusion Tables to the site, as one way to test how community-generated data can easily be mashed up with OASIS’s maps.

Urban Omnibus featured a post this week on the new feature and our request for feedback: http://urbanomnibus.net/2011/03/want-to-be-a-mapper-help-oasis-test-its-community-layer/   We think it’s got lots of potential, but it’d be great to hear from the larger planning community what they think.

Thanks!

Steve
