The day that the party was supposed to take place, we got there early and began setting everything up, which was basically just music, chips and beer. A good party is bare-bones, after all. No need for a disco ball and a buffet. Just alcohol, weed and good company.
Celebrate with a staff-guided party to meet the animals and explore the farm. This is a two-hour program. The first hour is led by an educator, followed by a one-hour room rental for gift opening and serving your own refreshments.
That was the scene early last September when I stumbled upon Hidden Pond Woods-East (Entrance: S. Kean Avenue, north of W. 95th Street, Cook County, IL 60480, near Willow Springs) after hiking about 3 miles at wild and hilly Spears Woods just to the west. Forest Preserves of Cook County had created the scene for a nature party of sorts (e.g., picnic grove with a 150-person capacity, ample parking, stunning scenery) at Hidden Pond Woods but it was deserted on a beautiful late-summer day.
But she broke with the party as it lined up behind Donald Trump and took an increasingly restrictive stance on abortion. Now she is running as a Democrat in a Phoenix-area battleground congressional district.

Wood, who was backed by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, defeated Sarah Dunklin, the party's 1st Congressional District chair, in a vote by the party's State Committee at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock.
The race for party chairman began last month after former chair Cody Hiland resigned from the post. Sanders appointed him to the Arkansas Supreme Court to serve in place of Justice Robin Wynne, who died in June.
The party's first vice chairman, John Parke, began serving as party chairman and first vice chairman under the state party's rules after Hiland's resignation. Parke told party members he would continue to serve as chair for the next two weeks as Wood transitions out of his role in Sanders' administration.
Speaking to a packed ballroom in the hotel, he recalled how in 2007 only 20 to 40 people showed up for the party's State Committee meeting. Republicans now have a supermajority in both chambers of the Arkansas Legislature in addition to holding the governor's office and all the state's other constitutional offices.
In a nominating speech for Wood, Sanders described him as a "fighter for conservative causes" and a "man of true integrity." The first-term governor said Wood will make "an absolutely amazing leader for our party, for our state, for our Christian values."
With the 2024 election approaching, Dunklin said she would draw on her leadership experience within the party to guide the state GOP. Dunklin stressed the importance of the election, saying, "We are living in a world where good is said to be evil and evil is said to be good."
As secretary of the Department of Transformation and Shared Services, Wood receives a salary of $172,000 a year, according to the Arkansas Transparency website. When asked if he would take a salary as chair of the party, Wood said Saturday, "I'll do whatever the will of the party is."
In December 2022, Hiland was elected chairman of the Republican Party of Arkansas to succeed Jonelle Fulmer, who had served in the post since December 2020 after Sanders signaled her support for Hiland to be the party chairman.
The State Committee also voted Saturday against a measure to close Republican primary elections in Arkansas to voters who are not registered with the party. Opponents of the measure said closing primaries at this time could cause confusion among voters who have traditionally voted Republican but are not registered members.
After attending the Met Gala with girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, the couple headed to the star-studded after-party at the Boom Boom Room on top of the Standard Hotel, where Woods, 37, had too much to drink, according to Us Weekly.
By 2 a.m., when the couple started to exit the party, Woods apparently fell while attempting to walk up a small flight of steps. According to a witness, his tumble caused him to freeze until a stern-faced Vonn came to his rescue, helping him to his feet and guiding him on their way out. Woods was reportedly swaying a bit after the fall.
Although Woods had a bit too much to drink at the after-party, Vonn had his back like any good friend would. After all, they both said their relationship began as a friendship that grew into something more.
At a 2014 party of Rush fans called RatCon (for Rush Rats), a precursor to RushCamp, Rosenthal describedthe origins of the charity, making a case for why a gathering to celebrate songs ofthe Great Philosophers of the Great White North also happens to be a strong conduit for good works.
Woods was a member of the Alliance Party from 1999 until 2002, when she joined the breakaway Progressive Party. She was involved in several of Jim Anderton's re-election campaigns.[5] She contested the Christchurch Central electorate in the 2005 general election and came fourth, receiving 1077 votes (3.2% of the electorate votes).[6] She was placed fourth on the Progressive party list. As the party obtained only 1.2% of the party vote, she did not enter Parliament that year.
If an employer requires non-exempt employees to attend a holiday party or community event, the employer must treat that time as working time, track it and compensate the employee for that time. If the event is entirely voluntary, then the employer does not have to pay the employee for his or her time in attendance.
