In many laptops that also have AMD/NVIDIA graphics, the output from this graphics solution is routed out through the Intel graphics. To deliver support for this (switchable) configuration, the manufacturer had to develop a custom version of the intel HD Graphics driver that included the modification necessary. If your notebook is configured this way, you cannot use the generic Intel HD Graphics driver package; you must get a customized version from HP. If they don't provide one for Windows 10, you may be out of luck...
I have exactly the same problem with intel graphics hd 4000 except I get blue screen in the end saying stop code VIDEO TDR FAILURE what failed :igdkm64.sys and the only way I can use windows i need to go to safe mode and uninstall or disab the intel graphics hd 4000 driver so I can use windows normally HELP Please
Now, The Intel Graphics 3000 Drivers are replaced by basic Microsoft Drivers and I only have 2 options in resolution viz, 1024x768 and 800x600, Further I can't change brightness.
Whenever I try to install Intel Graphics Driver, screen turns black and I have to reinstall the Windows.
As you said us to install -79000/sp78724.exe , -79000/sp78724.exe , -79500/sp79059.exe , -79500/sp79059.exe , etc . These but our screen is not getting on right the screen is showing black screen we cannot bo anything at that time then how can we install these??
The only indication I have is that the computer did not go to sleep when I close the lid, my theory is that the lid detector is somewhat faulty and that it was stuck in the close position, disconnecting the screen. I have no idea if this is the problem but if it is it seems I unstuck it. The PC still refuse to go to sleep when I close it but at least it's stuck in the open position now.
It was working well until windows updated the Intel HD graphics automatically. using a secondary display I uninstalled the driver and as long as I prevent windows updates from updating the driver I can have a screen without being able to change the brightness or resolution. I also installed manufacturer's recommended driver which was for 2016 but it didn't help either.
I even installed Ubuntu OS just to make sure that the problem is caused by driver incompatibility with windows 10 and as I expected, everything was fine on Ubuntu and I could change screen resolution and brightness.
I was convinced this was a hardware problem, maybe a faulty CPU or Optimus mux chip and was about to throw a good laptop out because of this problem, thankfully I found a solution after weeks of searching and head scratching.
My laptop is Lenovo G50-80. As explained here, I also can't use the laptop without uninstalling intel drivers and as they update automatically, the laptop is only usable without internet connection due to this issue.
So your kind support is highly appreciated ASAP.

I am attempting to install sp72836.exe and keep getting the error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". This is on a HP 15-f271wm with Intel Processor, 8GB memory, Win 10 64 bit, and a HDMI port.
I had previously tried the other Driver Graphics versions and got one of them to install once, but those now also give me the error message. I always use the Run as Admin for install/uninstall and also check the box that says to delete all files.
Thanks Paul for the suggestion.
According to
hp.com/go/15hp95 I have an Intel Pentium N3540 with Intel HD Graphics (2.16 GHz, up to 2.66 GHz, 2 MB cache, 4 cores).
Using Device Manager I Uninstall Device and select the Delete the driver software for this device. It appears that it uninstalls. Still in Dev Manager, the Display Adapter entry is gone.
I then run the Seup.exe for SP72369 and after a minute get the "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". So I reboot the laptop. The login screen colors are beautiful. The system came up normal, then about a minute later the screen goes black for awhile then comes back on. The Action center has 6 messages that say "Display Driver failed to Start".
Device Manager shows the Display Adapter with the gold triangle on Intel(R) HD Graphics. Properties says "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43). And the driver is 10.18.10.4358. Not the 4252 for SP72369.
I read the Install_Readme and it said that the driver you suggested is for Windows 7 which explains why it won't install. What do you think?
Trying to update using the Device Manager will only allow me to select the graphics folder, and not a specific file. So using File Explorer, I tried right clicking on the Ki108660.inf and selected "Install" but nothing happens.
Sorry for the double post. I went back and reinstalled. The Device Manager now shows version 10.18.10.4252, but there is still the gold triangle and the colors are really bad quality. During the install process got the following messages:
So then I uninstalled again and then ran the Setup and it started the installation. During the install, the screen goes black for a minute and then comes back good. I clicked the Next button to continue the installation and a few seconds later Windows pops up and says "Display driver failed to start. Using Microsoft basic driver." Note that the installation process has not finished yet. Finally when it finishes it says it was successful and needs to reboot to finish. I reboot and the HP 10.18.10.4276 driver shows up in Device Manager.
I can download a driver from
dell.com, but why's a generic driver not provided on the intel website? my other laptop i7 5500U has a windows 10 compatible graphics driver available from intel -HD-Graphics-5500-for-5th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors Drivers & Software
Is it because this is an entry level CPU and intel doesn't care for the poor? I don't use Dell drivers, even now m using a vostro with the Celeron 3215 CPU, with intel drivers, not dell drivers. Drivers downloaded from Intel are always newer/better than drivers downloaded from HP/Dell. I use Intel drivers for ALL my laptops (i3 2310M, i7 5500U, and this celeron 3215U). When/ if I upgrade to Windows 10, where will I get a generic Intel IGP driver for this CPU?
I really need a generic driver for Windows 10. I will definitely not be gaming on a notebook celeron, but nevertheless I'd need a driver that allows hardware acceleration for web browsers/ video player software, and allows me to control the screen brightness of the laptop.
These drivers are not certified for use with the 3215U CPU, these are for the newer N series (braswell) celerons. The celeron 3000 series is Broadwell based if I'm right? They have 15W TDP and CPU-Z shows the identifier as "core i3/i5/i7 5xxx".
It's highly doubtful these will work on the 3215U, if they did, wouldn't you guys post this in the 3215U drivers page? I'll probably get that "your PC doesn't have the minimum requirements to install this software" message when I try to load this up, but can't say for sure as I haven't tried it personally.
The thing is, when I go to
dell.com and enter this laptop's service tag, it says "Dell has tested this computer and confirmed it is compatible with Windows 10", and then offers me the choice of either downloading Windows 10 drivers from Dell (including the graphics driver), or start the Windows 10 upgrade right away.. Yet, a generic version of the driver is not available from Intel. It's pretty weird. I understand if Intel won't make a generic driver for my older i3 2310M/HD3000 laptop, (although even that isn't very old, I got it like 4 years back). But this celeron laptop was purchased only a month back. Now that m planning to upgrade to 10, I cannot find a generic driver for my 1 month old laptop
The release notes does state it will work with select celeron processors. For the life of me, I wouldn't have looked in a core-i / xeon series page for a Celeron series driver. Thanks for taking the trouble and finding this for me. Really appreciated.
I had 10.04 installed on my Thinkpad r61 with Compiz Manager and life was great, until the machine took water damage. I bought an ASUS (X54H) since and am trying out 12.04, but the desktop just doesn't look right.
I will greatly appreciate your help. I want to use Linux more, but like I said video drivers appear to be my biggest concern. I have also tried 12.04 on my desktop PC, but again failed to configure video card, so switched back to Windows 7.
The Intel graphics driver is part of the xserver-xorg-video-intel driver package, which is installed on all Ubuntu systems by default. And since it isn't a proprietary driver package, it doesn't show up in jockey (aka the Hardware Drivers application).
I used to use the laptop for gaming about 2 years ago but stopped. Now I'm trying to get back into those same games and have found that they are incredibly slow - even with graphics at minimal. Some of the games tell me that my "graphics drivers are 597 days old" - which would match the date being shown as my driver date (5/19/2016). The problem is that when I go to intel to update my graphics driver, none of the ones I try (which I believe match my specifications) will successfully download because it tells me I don't "meet minimum requirements". When I try using the intel driver and support assistant, it tells me that there are no updates available. How can my graphics drivers be 597 days old with no updates available? Have intel stopped releasing graphics driver updates for my graphics card/processor?
