Characterizing SRM as scary as even many proponents do is not helpful

I just came across this LinkedIn post by someone who is quite sympathetic to SRM who nonetheless as you see starts her post by characterizing SRM as scary. This is I believe extremely unhelpful albeit a common framing used even by those neutral or supportive of intervention. 

I would urge everyone to push back when you see such a comment.  

My response to her post is shown below.

 Perhaps to no one’s surprise the cofounder of Make Sunsets, Andrew Song, strongly agreed with my position as did Dan Visioni, the prolific Cornell SRM researcher.
