A tribute to Peter Wadhams

I am so pleased to share this video released today of a conversation with our colleague and HPAC member Peter Wadhams. Our intention at the Climate Emergency Forum was to focus on Peter’s extraordinary life as an Arctic and Antarctic explorer with over 50 expeditions, a scientist, a writer and an educator. 

I had so much fun moderating this conversation along with Paul Beckwith and Peter Carter. Hats off as well to Heidi and Charles for organizing the session and providing the incredible editing and graphics. 

We spoke about the explosion on a submarine that killed two of his colleagues, his interactions with Margaret Thatcher, a remarkable voyage in 1970 that made a hemispheric circumnavigation throughout the Americas, his well intentioned but mistaken projection in his book A Farewell to Ice that summer Arctic ice would disappear by 2020, and so much more. 

Peter was joined by his wife of 52 years Maria Pia who shared her stories of life with Peter. 

This is the first in a series of conversations that the Climate Emergency Forum plans on having on the life and times of some of the legendary figures in the climate world. If you have any suggestions for whom else we might reach out to please let me know.
