Hi Soumitra,

I am dismayed by this briefing.

It would be fantastic if you could organise a briefing for your top politicians on the TRUE situation. 

Not the misleading stuff on tipping points from Tim Lenton, but the truth that tipping elements in the Arctic have already reached their point of no return without direct cooling intervention.

Not the condescending stuff from Michael Mann belittling the danger from global warming, but the truth that temperatures will climb to around 2C by 2040 and 4C by 2100 without direct cooling intervention.

Not the wishful thinking from Chris Packham and others that the nature of the crisis is about nature and requires a natural solution, but the truth that the only way to preserve vital ecosystems like coral reefs is through direct cooling intervention.

Without cooling intervention our populations will inevitably be devastated by extreme climate change and sea level rise.  And, for India, a water crisis is inevitable as their high mountains lose their ice. No amount of emissions reduction or CDR by the world can save them from these inevitabilities.

Only SAI has the overall cooling power required in this emergency. We can't wait for space mirrors or other techniques to become available at that scale.

The Indian government could lead the way in calling for the emergency deployment of powerful cooling intervention, though the actual implementation for SAI to refreeze the Arctic would have to be by the US, the EU, China, Canada or a Nordic group,  preferably but not necessarily in collaboration.

P.S. Of course local interventions can always help, but in this emergency all could be lost without rapid SAI deployment deployment.
