Dear all, Herb,

Herb will be a panelist in the side event on the 18th November from 9 to 11 am at the Ghana pavilion.

The introduction is a 20 minute presentation delivered by Eric Asuman, the GMET acting director and written by Hans van der Loo of BCI.

The panel will discuss the practical ways in which the WMO could act on the resolution.

The other invited panelists are;

Hassan Sipra of Yale, Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering, SRM YouTube Watch

Dr. Portia Adade Williams,  Degrees Initiative, and
Research Scientist with the Science and Technology Policy Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-STEPRI) in Accra, Ghana. She is a climate adaptation expert with a PhD from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. Portia was a Contributing Author on the 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - Working Group 2. She was also a Contributing Author on the 2022-2032 African Union’s Climate Change and Resilient Development Strategy and Action Plans.

Two meteorologists, names to be announced.

I have apped Kelly Wanser but no reply. If anyone is in touch please pass on the information so they can participate. Silver Lining has its own side event. They may already be in Baku.
The Old Salts have been contacted.

Please let us know if there is any feedback about the resolution.

Best regards,
Dale Anne

Dear all,

GMET has discussed the resolution with the WMO prior to the side event this Monday. There is "great interest".  The discussion will center on how the WMO can take up the challenge in practical terms.

The first paragraph will say GMET and stakeholders because not all meteos have been contacted yet

Maureen Ahiataku will do the presentation. Hans van der Loo is assisting with background and slides.

The panel is now two meteorologists from Denmark where Maureen studied, Dr.Portia Adade Williams from the Degrees initiative and Herb from HPAC. Hassaan Sipra of Degrees and Yale has to leave for another event but hopes to send a recorded statement.

GMET is trying to set.up a live link.  If they succeed I will share it.

Best regards,
Dale Anne

Dear Dale Anne

This event has historic potential to start a shift in world climate policy to properly recognise the key role of albedo enhancement in restoring a safe climate.

WMO has the authority and respect to open a discussion based on evidence and logic, in contrast to the ideological dominance at COP.

I would be interested if the discussion could canvas the potential of WMO to convene discussions on possible governance structures for albedo management.   A number of international organisations, such as the International Astronomy Union and the International Monetary Fund, might be able to contribute to an effective governance model.

I hope we can get a live link.  Noting time from 11am to 1pm on the 18th = 7am UK = 6pm Australia AEDT = 2am Eastern US.

Regards

Robert Tulip
