Always encouraging to read articles on Geoengineering projects in the mainstream press that are reasonably well balanced as this Atlantic article is. 

Some interesting quotes from supporters and opponents of Geo engineering including John Moore, David Holland and Martin Siegert, the lead author on the infamous paper arguing that proposed methods to cool the poles will not work and therefore research on Geo engineering in the polar regions should be halted. 

One scientist is quoted as saying that he was supportive of Geo engineering until Trump started slashing renewable energy funding. Not sure I follow that logic. 

The good news on the effort to monitor the behavior of Thwaites is that they are getting data from the base of the glacier but the bad news is that for technical reasons the monitoring system that was supposed to provide ongoing data is not working.
