rendering mathml with a text-based browser

I wonder... what are the prospects of getting PlanetMath to show
reasonable things using a text-based browser?

Here's what I see in Emacs at http://planetmath.org/node/88029 -

I’m currently browsing PlanetMath using the new ”eww” browser for
Emacs. It’s very simple and I’m relatively sure that it won’t handle
MathML well at all. For instance, it might know what to do with
X+YXYX+Y and possibly even αα\alpha, but it’s bound to get confused by
∫x∞e-x2⁢d⁢xsuperscriptsubscriptxsuperscriptesuperscriptx2dx\int_{x}^
{{\infty}}e^{{-x^{2}}}\>dx. However, maybe we can contribute to its
improvement in this regard. At the moment, I’m just pleased that I was
able to log into PlanetMath and (hopefully) post this.

I may have misunderstood, but I kinda expected to see an image?

Interesting idea though: Occasionally when making a page with really
simple math, or maybe on a frontpage or TOC to something more complex,
I wanted to avoid MathML (till later), I'd thought LaTeXML ought to
have a Text Math PostProcessor (or HTML); convert it to text italics,
<sub>, <sup> (num)/(denom) kinds of forms....

But then a fire started in some other room, so I rushed off to deal
with that....
