The Silhouette Design Store has a great selection of fonts that you can use to enhance your projects and say just the right words in just the right way. We have over 7,000 fonts to choose from, so chances are we have something that is just right for you.

Most fonts purchased from the Silhouette Design Store should download and install automatically into your Silhouette Studio library. To access those fonts, simply click the text tool on the right-hand side and scroll through to browse through all of the fonts available to you. To access certain Premium Fonts, they may need to be installed manually to your computer. To do so, please use the steps below.

There are two ways you can go about this. When your text box is selected, go to the top of the page and find the drop-down menu where the current font is listed. Click on that menu, and either type the name of the font in the search bar or scroll through fonts until you find the one you want to use. Another way to select the font is by going to the Type menu at the top of the screen. Go to Font, and then select your chosen font. The downside of this method is there is no search bar where you can type the name of the font.

With all the resources available, I wrote an entire post on my recommendations on the best places to get free and cheap fonts here. Check it out to get the low down on where to get the best fonts and where to stay far, far away from. A few things to keep in mind when you are looking for fonts for use with your Silhouette:

I get most of my fonts in bundles from The Hungry Jpeg. Their bundle options are pro grade fonts that come with an extended commercial license giving you the ability to sell creations you make with the fonts. Many of the fonts included are optimized for crafters and you can use the graphics with the machine as well! They usually end up coming to only pennies a file with everything included. It is definitely the best combination of quality and price on the market! Here is a peek at the February Bundle:

Now that you understand all about fonts (who knew there was so much to understand!) all we have to do is get the ones you have picked into your Silhouette Design Studio software. The good news is, this part is EASY!

Easy as that!! And now that you know how easy it is, I hope you go crazy adding all sorts of new fonts for fun designing! For fun, I would love to hear your favorite font below in the comments!

I have a number of fonts, Silhouette Dream State, Silhouette Antelope Island, and Star light. These all appear inn my library as recent downloads, but when I try to open them I am told. File type not supported. Could you please tell me where I go from here ? I am not very good with computers I am afraid. Many thanks.

Any idea on how to get fonts not downloaded from the Silhouette store to show up in the library? I have several pcs that I use at home and our shop and would like to have the fonts all in the library to use. Thanks!

Not sure what is going I just updated Mac OS to 14.1 and Silhouette Studio to 4.5.735. When I start to type in a text box the letters show a streak. I tried different fonts and it also happens when I open an old project.

Fonts that are activated via the Adobe Fonts Service are discoverable by any application that uses standard Windows font enumeration services which will make such fonts available to such applications. That is how the vast majority of Windows applications discover and use fonts. If an application is counting on font files physically being in the C:\Windows\Fonts or the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts directory, it will definitely will not have access to fonts activated via the Adobe Fonts Service. Note that the actual font files associated with fonts served via the Aodbe Fonts Service are not directly accessible to applications or users.

One other possibility is that this particular application only allows use of TrueType or OpenType TTF fonts. The vast majority of the fonts provided by the Adobe Fonts Service are in OpenType CFF format. This application may be intentionally (or perhaps unintentionally) filtering out any OpenType CFF fonts.

Hi ChristineReally need your expertise. I know you're quite busy these days!! You are such a inspiration to all of us and love reading all of the things you post even if I don't comment or remark every time..I am hoping others have the same or similar questions related to mine. I am finally started to use my Cameo 2 again after being for some unknown reason terrified of it for the past year. Yeah no idea why just a me thing!! Thanks to my husband who is building an Arcade, one of many things he's doing and this is his first he needed some letters for his buttons. He begged me to try and do them for him. So I did and they came out great first print and my block was gone. Amazing how our husbands are able to make or break us. So glad mine is always willing to push me to my limits even though sometimes I'm not quite there yet. He's always been a little more ocd than I will ever be but he knew that 40 years ago. He spends his time outside in his shop constantly building stuff he loves to make now that he's retired. The Arcade is something he hopes to make into a future business maybe. We'll see. Anyways he tries to keep me focused on things to do since we retired other than house or one of my favorites traveling, he so much more prefers being home, just us two. Back to my question sorry got a little track.Since getting all these fonts installed on my computer way back when, I now notice i have a few well many, I may never use ever. They don't appear to be in my Cameo library so I can't just delete them like I saw Melissa do on the Silhouette School page. Do you have anything that shows how to remove fonts and to be sure they're not existing fonts that came with the computer so i like don't mess up any existing hardware or software. This way I can add others I know I will truly use now that I am in my crafting mode and I actually and getting a better idea as to what fonts do and are. I am cleaning up my laptop and craft room to motivate myself more and often. Yes this past year he built me entire craftroom so I have no excuses. I need to get busy.
